Thread: ok novice carbiner looking for advice
I got my first level in Carbiner last night and I'm wondering which box I should go with First? any ideas
counterinsugery1 for burst shot, burst shot makes xp easy, then marksmanship, just folow this
001x
041x
441x
444x
I'd have to say I prefer FullAutoSingle2(from novice) over Burst1, you get a Stun and Blind at the cost of very little if any damage.

Hey Danton. Burst shot is great. Especially after you fire off Charge Shot. Imastered Carb in one week doing War Gronda missions on Corellia. They are slow, and when grouped with a pet or droid, you get like 3k xp per. And you get like 4k for the lair. Hope to see you in game again bro.
burstshot1 is great, better than FullAutoSingle2 IMO. they do the exact same damage, but burstshot has much lower HAM costs, and i believe is slightly faster.
Speed is the key to carbineer without BH carbine, so go 0-0-1-x, then 4-0-1-x, then 4-4-1-x, then finish off counterinsurgency. If you are doing BH carbine, do marksmanship first, and if you are half heavy swordsman, you'd probably wanna do counterinsurgency for the defense bonuses.
without speed, cripplingshot is **edit**, so don't do marksmanship first. I did, and i completely regret it. even now with a speed sliced carbine and a +5 to speed attachment, i don't think i'm firing it at the cap (but i'm sure close.)
Please look at this thread and download my spreadsheet. The speed and damage stats for the specials do NOT change from gun to gun in relation to each other. Base your decision on the listed DPS while looking at the HAM costs.
The summary page adds in the Armor Piercing and Armor Rating factors along with Ranged Damage Mitigation Level 3 for PvP.

I went for CripplingShot before ScatterShot or BurstShot, which probably isn't the best choice. I explain it like this after I have been through it now. Getting LegShot3 is a waste since it is broken, identical to LegShot2. BurstShot should be the first choice, 0-0-1-X. After that you need to look at your play style. If you group a lot then pickup ScatterShot1, 1-0-1-X, and continue to ScatterShot2, 3-0-1-X. If you solo with a pet, I think 1-4-1-X is the best route. If you PvP, honestly you need to be 4-4-3-2 to even have a chance without the BH line, BUT getting to 4-0-3-2 should be your priority to be a good support in PvP groups.
I finished the accuracy tree instead of the speed tree and that is NOT the way to go. I love CripplingShot, but speed SEEMS to be more important than accuracy.
Be sure to review in the sticky'd posts which specials actually work and which ones are broken. If they all worked correctly, I would say pickup LegShot3 for solo/pet play and then move to BurstShot2.
One more HUGE note: CripplingShot and BurstShot1 have the exact same DPS, with CripplingShot costing more HAM. FullAutoSingle2 has the highest DPS but nearly the highest HAM cost.
BUT, FullAutoSingle2 is only higher than CripplingShot/BurstShot1 by 7.9%
