Thread: Some information about the Nym Slugthrower Carbine.
Reposted from another forum because I figured some of you might appreciate the information...
I've seen some threads auctioning these off on the trade forum... People who don't know much about them are getting ripped off both in-game and here on the forums, and whenever someone tries to post actual information theyget screamed at for hijacking. So...instead of 'hijacking' the threads and being yelled at,I thought I'd post a little bit of info here for all of you to see. If you have any problem I'd appreciate if you didn't hijack MY thread. All I'm doing is posting information, if you don't want people to know that information for your own personal gain, then you're just being greedy and selfish so stay out of my thread.
Anyway... here are the stats for the weapon in question (unsliced)
Damage : 103-217 (Acid) Light Armor Piercing
Attack Speed 4.0
Ham Costs : 36,62,32

Now... to GET the Nym Carbine you can complete the Nym Themepark Quests at Nym's outpost on Lok. You do one mission from his two henchmen, and then the final mission from Nym himself. You will get a badge upon completion of the last mission as well.
As you can see from the stats, it's not an amazing weapon... approximately comparable to a goodDXR6. There is a push to change it to kinetic damage (since it's a 'slugthrower') but I doubt it'll happen. It's good in PvP with a slice because of the high min damage, but the Ham costs are pretty severe if you plan on using any specials as a carbineer.
Now... there are two other things about this weapon you all need to know.
1. It doesn't require any certification to use. This makes it a fairly valuable weapon if you need to grind up the carbineer branch of the marksman tree, but fairly useless otherwise. Unless you're a hardcore crafter and don't have any combat skills... in that case it's not a bad holdout weapon.
2. You can get as many of these as you want... there is currently a bug in the quest that allows you to complete the last mission as many times as you want. You don't even need to GET the last mission, you can get the two components from the quest and give them to Nym and get yourself a free carbine. Furthermore, if you don't attack the NPC's in the base at the last mission, they won't attack you. (even though they are 'red' on the radar) This means that you can just walk in the base, pick up the items you need, and leave.
I have submitted /bug reports on all of this, and it's a known issue, but I haven't heard any word about when they'll be fixing either the aggro problem, or the repeat last quest problem.
The reason I'm telling you all this is because I'm tired of seeing people get ripped off and paying 100k or more for a weapon that's pretty much worth maybe 1/3 of that price... if that. I used to see people paying inflated prices for AT-ST pilot helmets and Krayt Skulls until some people were nice enough to explain how to get one for yourself. So now i'm repaying the favor.

Oh yeah... just a disclaimer. 
This was posted on my server forums, which is why you might not agree with some of my comments about the 'usefulness' of the gun. hehe... we've been lucky enough to have some fairly good resource spawns so most of the DXR6's on my server are faster and have a higher damage than the standard Nym carbine.
Your server might be different however, so the guns might be more useful to you than they are to me. The important information is how to get em and all that stuff... I just didn't feel like completely editing my origional post.
