which is better apples or oranges? Both are fruit.

There a re a ton of factors involved in this decision. At it's simplest elite for PvP and laser for PvE. The low min damage on the laser kills you on targets with mitigation, but the AP2 helps alot. The elite is only AP1, but it generally has a very tight damage range, so it isn't effected as much by mitigation. Try the carbine calculator in the faqs, enter your prospective specs and see what it tells you.

The FAQ has detailed right ups on how the different weapons and different situations effect carbineers. Definitely worth a look, maybe even a bookmark

well, i havent done much pvp with carbines yet, but i'd be willing to bet the elite carbine is best there.

Laser carbine is nice, but is better saved for PvE. That low minimum damage wouldnt work well on players (^as everyone up there said^)

Laser= non-mitigated targets

DXR6 = mitigated targets

Elite = same as DXR6, but Energy damage instead =O

Exactly.....throw the Elite in the trash. I don't even carry my Krayt Elite anymore....either of them

You can get nearly identical stats with identical components on a DXR6 and Elite. BUT the DXR6 will pass right through a PSG whereas the Elite will get a 40%-60% reduction in PvP.

And the Laser is actually very close when using identical components with it and the DXR6, even with Mitigation 3, because of the AP2.

If you must get only one (which a Carbineer needs at least 4 different guns IMO) then get the Laser. Most of the time in PvP and PvE it will be the best.

Hey... Carbineer is mostly about style.. i couldn't replace my elite completely by this ugly DXR ever.

I think when you play a profession likecarbineer, you shouldn't only lookat the maths... we aren't the damage dealers anyway.

Heresy! I love the way the DXR-6 looks, all the other carbines seem so small and undersized. Plus the DXR-6 by far sounds the best. I love my DXR-6 with all my heart

I've all but hung up using anything but my DXR-6 and my Laser. Both are Kraytted, scoped and whatever that other craftable option there is.

I've found that using Action & Health cost reducers to me more useful than damage pups when doing group pvp.
