Allo, building up a char to go as a support class for PVP / Krayt / NS / Corvette / DWB outings, wanting to go carbineer as ive always been one, and love the fun involved - however I feel i need to pick up either CM or SL to add to the group's effectivness

Now possible templates using these profs involve:

Master Carbineer, Master CM with 4 pts left

Master Carbineer, Master SL, 3230 Medic

Master Carbineer, CM 4004, then something like 0340 Doc

Any suggestions?

Thx!

3044 SL is almost as effective as master. you wont use the second tree much or at all and the master box just gives you 5 more melee and ranged defense

The Master Carb, CM 4004 doc combo would be a real good support profession. If you did doc4030 you could heal states/poison/disease/fireand the CM would allow you to throw big heals from a distance. I'm pretty sure the MU of the states/poison/disease/fire are novice doc level, you just don't get the ability until later, but I'd double check that. You wouldn't be able to buff, but I think the healing ability would be a bigger asset in the support role. While buffs negate most Mob diseases/poisons, I have a feeling that this will not be the case after the CB/CR/CU (whatever it is called )

0340 doc would be plenty to buff. Your buffs won't be great though, cause you're missing out on a bit of Wound Treatment and Treatment speed that a master doc would have. You should however be able to use Enhance D packs. As a doc myself who was previously a combat medic as well, I recommend going for the healing ability first, get the ability to buff later if you can. Healing in combat is much more important than buffing, especially the Spider venom area poison packs start flying.

Is this a main or an alt? SL is wonderfully fun, and will only become more useful if/when the CURB arrives.

With 3230 Medic you can still use stim Cs,I myself am going for 2230 Medic with those extra 4 points thrown into Ranged and Melee Defense on FS.

hey i love SL too and it's great when you have jedi with melee defense form defender since you can add to it helping them against melee and healing dizzy and stun. getting master really isn't worth it as i posted above and i personally think being able to heal DoTs is more valueable than buffing since all PvP is about who has the better DoT since 90% armor is very effective. in large wars dizzy and KD aren't used too much unless people are singling out jedi. i would say think about what professions are most present when you PvP and make a decision on that. i'm making my rifleman a doc so i can stand behind the lines healing people and be able ot dish out some damage as well.

I'm currently CM 4304/Novice Doc (Heal States)/ Master Swords, pretty much an offense stacker. The reason for me posting and checking on this forum is for Carbineer info because i've been stocking up on tapes/guns...etc. for when I go Carbineer.

About your CM question, yes CM is very effective, but not as complimentary to Carbineer as you might want. It can be, don't get me wrong, Corbantis PVPers lovetofight w/out leggings and if you could stack somenice Action Poisons and /legshot3, you would be a forcetobe reconed with. You're asking for a support profession and CM is a definite offensive and shifts battles into your favor.

Doctor is almost always needed. If you take the doc route you can buff, heal states, area cure poisons/diseases, extinguish fire, drag, and heal of course, all of which are very useful in combat, and very much needed in guilds/friends (doctors are almost always useful).

I've never been Squad Leader so can't help you there, but I really love the command that cures dizzy, stops those stupid jedi from spamming and KDing everyone.

Wait!

We do not have any advantages above players who don't wear leggins... the boots absob the legshots/hits' damage. Pants are really almost useless, just like the biceps & brancers... that's why everyone runs around in 4-piece-armors.

Wow really? I was playing on my friends alt who is a BH/Carbineer and was spamming legshot at opponents w/out leggings. I noticed they were losing massive action, I guess it's just due to their type of armor and condition I guess. I didn't know that. I myself also use the 4 piece suit frankly because my BE pants/shirt provide some nice bonuses over armor. But then again I really don't ever fight against Carbineers in PVP anyways.

it seems to depend on what pants your wearing no, really... If i wear normal trousers with comp boots, my action is fully protected.. but if i wear an imp tie suit with compboots, or any type of skirt with comp boots, my action is not fully protected, and i'll get hit for full action damage often.

IMO though, cm/carbineer is one of the best templates out there.

im posting this for a buddy since he is perma banned, his name is Azraiel

"um, ive tried out BH 3400/ Carbs 3404/Novice Brawler/Smuggler 0010; Mcarbs/Mfencer; and both those sucked compared to my current carb template of

Mcarbineer/ 4030 Doctor/ 4004 Combat Medic.

With this template im pure support, but thats ok, whenever my guild gets into a fight (HAKD is the preminent pvp guild on tempest) i just sit in the back, Toss a couple of Area Mind poison/disease Cs, then fire FAA2, that way, i can get alot of people stated up, and poisoned/diseased...and then if need be i toss a ranged stim or 2.

WIth solo combat, i dont do too well at, but i dont suck neither. Pretty much, if a melee person attacks me ill be on the ground the majority of the fight. but i have a button that Clears Combat Queue, Heals Dizzy, Heals Intim, Heals Stun... So i just spam that while im on the ground...and for the most part they cant kill me cuz i have doc.

Against Jeti, they tear me up something fierce, and im their first target, but thats why i dont join the fight until at least 1-2 mins into it, most other jeti have "jeti tunnel vision" so they forget all about me.

And ive learnt that the people i can most tear up with my carbs are 1) TKMs 2) Riflemen 3) pikeman 4) swords 5) fencers (damn hard to hit, even with snowcake and +200 in acc)

for the melee i use my 600 max dmg laser, not the best, but still kickarse

and for the ranged i use my 200-469 max dmg DXR6.

hope this helps, but be prepared for a constantly full invetory and lots of money spent on tapes and meds

damn typos, i woke up 5mins ago /shrug

I have a character on Radiant that is working on carbineer/ranger 0040/squadleader 4034 and seems to be alot of fun and help in groups.

Speaking of armor resists, they seem to have been fixed, at least with the arm bicep/bracers, I noticed I was taking less damage vs a Black Sun assassin or bloodguard with the bracers on than without- however the leggings remain the same it seems. I can now wear the arm parts without gloves and not have that armor hole I used to have.
