Does radius make any difference on the weapon??

I have 2 EE3 carbines;

1)Crafted by a WS and its radius is 3.0

Speed:2,4

Dmg:133/249

Radius:3.0

Ham:63/57/44

2)I looted it from a npc jedi and its radius is 8.5

Speed:4.2

Dmg:70/183

Radius:8.5

Ham:30/25/9

I didn't understand what radius do in ee3 carbine,I would be glad if you help me out.
