Today i re-mastered Fencer, combining it with master Carbineer and Medic 4440.
If you've not already considered it for your own game play, do take a look at picking up a melee profession to compliment Carbineer. I chose Fencer because of its defenses, and because it was the first profession that i learnt how to pvp well with.
I now have two offensive professions should i need them. I can switch to fencer mode if i'm in an enclosed area where i cannot control the fight from a distance, or i can equip the carbines when i'm in the open. Fencer also gives me as a carbineer, some much needed defenses (+74 melee, +90ish ranged, +65 kd, +50 pd- something like that). I also have melee and ranged mitigation 3.
Today was the first time i pvped with this setup (two offensive professions, rather than picking and choosing defense trees). I really did find myself switching between modes depending on the situations and opponents, and mixing them up as well.
eg,
I was fighting a fencer/tkm/doc, in fencer mode. I stuck fencer's dizzy2 (which is much stronger than the dizzy from FAS2) and PD'ed the target. I then switched to carbines and opened up a 40m gap between us. From there the guy never stood a chance, as i used KD/dizzy then PD/dizzy at will, while i pounded him on the deck with scatter2 (no ranged mitigation = nice damage with my laser).
Another opponent was a rifleman who was kiting me. I used FAS2 and KD/PD to make him fishflop, whilst i closed the distance and switched into fencer mode. He didn't have any melee mitigation, and my nice acklay baton tore him up pretty good.
If you're currently planning out your template, don't just look at stacking various trees to get maximum defenses and only having carbineer as your mastered profession. Consider actually mastering a melee profession in its own right, to give you more options in combat.

Do you use any SEAs?
To be a realy effective Carbineer I think the Master Carbineer speed is just too low. IMHO you need either BH Carbines or some SEAs to get into the powerzone of Carbineer.

Yes. I agree with you too.
Speed is a big problem with the profession. However, right now speed tapes are pretty cheap compare to 2h, pike, rifle, pistol.
I think it's worth putting up the money for the speed SEAs, because it saves you putting the skillpoints in BH.

Yea we could really use some more speed. I ran into a problem myself, i went and spent a few 100k on speed attachments, i got a +4 AA, and a +3 i think, anyway, they are AA, and i planned on putting them on ubese bando and shirt....then the patch
I could put them on a padded belt but.....anyway, you can only get +25 off attachments i believe, and its costly. Im dropping master swordsman here soon once i get master marksman for BH carbs, the 50 or so speed from BH will help alot better than those SEA's, and you pick up 50 or so in accuracy, that cant hurt. Your looking at 115 speed with master carbineer and BH carbs, and around 210 accuracy....i think. Then you could always stick with those SEA's for 140 speed

Well I was a crazy good defense stacker previously... Master Fencer /TKM /Pistols 0/0/4/0 and it was nice...
BUT... I gotta say... BH Carbines/Carbineer is NUTS... I love it and I ain't even master carbineer yet... can't wait to pick some more skills up... I have a +9 spd/+25 accuracy carbineer belt... BH carbines seems to add more than anything accuracy for importance in PvP... I am thinking the extra what 50 accuracy or so from BH Carbines line should allow me to really lay into defense stackers from a distance... just gotta keep them at a distance... and kite...

The key distinction i'm trying to make between stacking and this, is that i've mastered the melee profession. I can effectively use it to attack people, rather than just having one or two trees of a melee profession purely for the skill mods.
I really really like it so far

Yeah I know.... I have actually thought about master Fencer/Master cabrineer... but may end up with master swords/master carbineer just b/c I like to be a PvE badass more than PvE

I love carbineer/fencer .. it meansI can do damage against more people..e.g. against ranged people where carbines dont do much damage, ill try the states + kd or pd with the carbine, then close in the with fencer...And against tkms etc where fencer does nothing i can pd/dizzy with fencer, then gain some distance while i use my carbines on em
Im gonna switch fencer for pikeman now..see how that works out

It also gives you a "defensive stance" so-to-speak; When i'm under attack from multiple enemies, i can switch to fencer, drop a pikatta, hit COB and become one of those annoying stackers who you can't hit: whilst still dishing out states / damage etc with fencer.

i used to have master carb/fencer and pistoleer 0 0 4 4. that was a very nice temp, but i did more PvE so i ended up using fencer a lot more then i wanted to so i decided to go all ranged. with master carb BH 0 4 4 0 pistoleer 0 0 4 0 novice medic and possibly some FS skills if i can ever get into the village.
