Last night I was chilling in my normal haunts, Bestine, and this guy wearing a TKM uniforms walks up to me, you know the one Decorative Vest, some skirt, and a pair of sandels, how original. I've got on my imperial uniform, made of reguar clothes so I don't have to be overt, and I have my laser carbine equiped.

him - "Anyone want to duel?" (actually it was "ne 1 wana dul?" but l337dude speak will be edited out because I HATE it!)

Him - "isn't there anyone here with the guts to duel me"

Him - "Come on anyone"

Then he turns to me - "Duel me"

I figure with his attitude that he is buffed to the gills and on every food and spice known to PvP. I target him and check his HAM. I think to myself...Hmmm, no buff and all his stats are at 900, he has no regen ability this might work. Now, I've dueled a few friends over the months, but nothing with my current template, so I'm a littlenervous about doing it, especially against some one this bold. ButI figurewhat the hell.

Me - "I'll duel you, but we start at 40m" I figure there is no way he will go for this.

Him - "ok no problem dude"

First thing that goes through my mind is uhoh, I can't believe he agreed to that, he must be a crazy defense stacker or something. I tell him to wait where he is (right in front of the cantina door) and I start to walk down to the Bank area, trying to get my desired distance in the confines of Bestine.I turn and kneel for the added accuracy bonus hopping that it isn't the death of me. Iconsider equiping my armor, but I know that the laser will hurt me too much with it on,plus this guy might pull a stun gun and I have on PvE armor so it would do no good. I'm sitting there heart racing unbuffed, with no armor, just my beloved laser (thanks to Abrom for the 34% damage slice, look her up if you are on intrepid!). I slide my cursor over him, put my finger over the F10 key for FKD, and challenge him. Instantly he accepts, and charges at me! I fire off my FKD. The special hits me hard, but I land the dizzy,unfortunately not the KD. Oh @#%$, i think, I'm dead!I fire offa standard attack imediatley (I'm speed capped) and asses the situation, I reach for the F9 key, underhand shot, to try for another KD, but thoughts of +100 def vs KD run through my head. I rethink that action as he still barrelsfull speed at me, and slide my finger down to F6, action shot, for the posture down, I imediately start to run, this is getting way to close for me, he is almost in melee range! As I stand I see him stumble from my actionshot, he is down on one knee!A wave of slight relief runs over me. I check my HAMs, man this carbine hurts! I watch him stand and go right back down on his kiester. I puta little more range between us for the accuracy bonus and just let the auto attack go, my carbine is hitting him hard, and he is flopping like crazy trying to get up. I look at my mind and action stats again, then at his ham, it is risky for me to use more specials, but I've lost track of time and don't know how long the dizzy is going to last. I check his HAM, both action and health are pretty equal, soI fire off two full auto singles (man I need crippleshot) and luckly he is incapped. The battle is over, and just in time, my HAMs are almost depleted. I hear the sound indicating I have a tell, and look down expecting to be accused of cheating, or just called some rude name, but to my suprise I just see one word, "Nice." So I walk over and heal him up.

him - "That was nice dude, you got me good, I knew you couldn't KD me, but I wasn't expecting the posture change"

Me - "Thanks man,it was my first duel in a long time"

Him - "Lets do it again, but this time form 5m"

Iwanted to just bask in my glory, but he was being cool so Isay "Sure, but you're gonna pummel me"

Him - "you know it"

Knowing what is comming, but being honorablesince hewas cool so far,I walk out to 5m, and accept his challenge. I imediatley hit FKD, and miss. Before I can even get another shot off I'm on my back, I hit stand as he wails on my head, and get right up, somehowthe gods of Carbineering smilled on me and my +15 def Vs dizzy kicked in. I get up and hit actionshot again tryingfor the posture down soI can get a littledistance in, but it doesn't work, and I go down for the count. I knew it would be bad, but I never expected it to be this bad, I only got in 2 shots, and one missed! My mind is done, so he can't heal me, but he says "wow, nobody has ever gotten up before"

At this point another TKM uniform walks up and tells the guy he will duel him, I'm still mind incapped and can't do anything so I click on this guy and see he is fully buffed except for mind. The original guy accepts, andI figure he is going down hard, being unbuffed. To my supprise I imeadiately see +Dizzy+ float up over the buffed guys head and he is on the ground, and in what seemed like one second he is incapped. This made me feel much better and some of the glory returned. OnceI was up I did a /cheer for the unbuffed TKM, and walked into the cantina to log, it was late andI wasn't going to top the last five minutes tonight.

Hope you all enjoyedmy story, sorry it got so long. Also, if anyone is currious my current template is BH 0-4-4-0/Carbineer 1-2-4-3/Pistoleer1-0-2-0/medic 2-2-3-0. I was temped to pull off one of my 900+heals, but the last time I did that I was called a cheater, hey no one ever told meit was frowned upon toheal in a duel. To me it seems all is fair in love and war, do what it takes to win, but after therash i took for doing it that time I will neverheal in a duel again.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO NOT HEAL IN A DUEL......if that is your template by all means heal. Those calling you cheater are whiny little 10 year olds.....

I can't wait till armor gets nerfed. Carbineers will be a force. The vetern carbineers will be unstopable since we know what we're doing and have had so much experience as total underdogs..

i do fairly well in 1 on 1 duels. but 2 times this past week i've been ambushed while doing rebel missions and had a TEF. the first time wasn't so bad i put up a good fight but i was not ready for PvP so it ended with me on the ground dead because i couldn't get out of melee range. of course the 2nd time was a horrible defeat. i was just running out to my mission, still had a TEF and out of nowhere 2 riflemen attacked me. i had no stun helm on me and one of them had a dot rifle... my 2500 mind was gone before i even knew what was happening. so other then those 2 times i do fairly well. i especially like beating TKM's with posture change and dizzy attacks at long range finished with some nice dots and scatter/cripples.

I agree with TA, if you are capable of healing ina duel,then go ahead and do so. People I fight heal all the time, so there is no reason you should.

Oh, and nice story btw, I like hearing about carbineers coming out on the winning side.
