NS Elders are 100% resist to everything but Kinetic and Blast......the Spiderclan and there is another one I can't remember that have different resists.

If I remember right, there are well over a dozen different NPC witches on Dath with different resists.....and Carbineer can't touch most of them....

But Carbineer/Doc is very nice for the non-FotM folks

Did they change that? The last I remember, NS Elders were 100% to kinetic, with blast and energy at 25%. I haven't been out there much as my alt is now 100% non-combat (used to be a Ranger/Master Swordsman, now he's a Master WS, Master Artisan, working on Master Merchant) and my carbineer is pretty much only used for PvP.

Don't let that 25% to energy fool you. Even with an uber laser, they still have heavy armor and about 350k HAM. Not to mention they hit pretty damn hard and can heal themselves. I don't even want to think of how hard they are now that they have thier specials and force powers back. You will not be able to solo an Elder as a Doc/Carbineer, unless you plan on taking about 2 hours to do so, and that's IF you can keep her from taking down your mind.Who really wants to waste thier time on that?

I'm not too sure about how tough some might be now with thier powers back, but before they got them back, I was able to wipe out mass groups of NS Rangers and any NS lower than Ranger. I could take out stalkers fairly easily too I believe. I think NS Spell Weavers are not 100% to energy either. I used to kill them a lot, but I'm not sure if that was with a carbine or if it was when I had TK.

On my mission from the village the other day I ran into a Singing Mountain ClanDragoon. It had been a while since I had seen on of those, and remembered them to be fairly tough. I decided to try out my new Krayt EE3 on her, as I noticed she was vulnerable to heat. I took her out in about 10 seconds flat. She tried to use a force KD on me, which failed 3 times. Other than that, she never touched me.

There's plenty of stuff on Dath that we carbineers can whoop on. You just have to find the right targets.

Doc/Carbine as i see it has 2 problems ...

Firstly, the complete and utter lack of defences, which you really don't have a way around regrettably.

Secondly, your speed ... which luckily is quite easily countered in our of 2 ways. Kryat E-11's and Snubnose can get really fast, really quickly. Especially with a decent speed slice and a PU. Also if you have a near unlimited supply of money you can try and aqquire +25 in SEA's.

Basically with Doc/Carbine, you have nothing to help counter the weakenesses of carbineer. That being said you will need to really rely on our strengths. Which most would agree is our wide arrangement of specials. Get to know your abilities and when to use them. As far as soloing high end content i don't really think your defence will allow to get that done with any kind of ease. But as a non-FOTM template it gets my thumb's up

Maybe I am thinking of another type of NS.....I tend to ignore them ALL

But I do know that the different types and clans vary a lot.....

First let me explain..

Soe in it's infinite wisdom made it so jedi characters have to depend on mains for items needed... soo ... here goes..

at first i was fotm .. doc/sword.. then doc/rifle .. . being bored with fotm garbage and tring to get ahead of the combat changes i decided on carbineer (i hear combat revamp will make it worth while...) but meanwhile ... i have to keep doc. . as i do not have a guild or lots of friends whom play i need doc to self buff at odd offpeak hours and my jedi .. so that leaves me 1 mastery..

well the crux ... How does a solo doc/carbineer master really stand up vs nightsisters (elders i know are no way to kill due to 100% resists to all our weapons *ugh* soo .. how bout kyrat's .. or any ohter high end creature that drops crystals for jedi?

or am i just screwed and should go back to being a swordsman and soloing kryats again?

There is a point to killing them as Carbineer

Well put haywood.

Im also a master carbineer/Master doc. I alternate the last few points a bit though. For pvp it has its disadvantages yeh but for pvm i compleatly love it. Yeh i cant kill a few nightsisters but they have a prety hard time killing me also. A great way to make it work in pvm though is use a pet for some larger mobs to tank for you....That puts the lack of def out of it. And as a master doc you can buff the pets health action and regens....As a master doc using stim E's you can heal that pet prety quickly. For getting meat i like to just send the pet right at the base let them all pop and attack him for a couple....Then full auto area and clean up a pile of mobs in a couple shots. Once you get the speed problem out of the way you can put out some impressive dps on multipul targets. Get them blind and dizzy then knock em down...heal any status effect and never wate for buffs. Our biggest weakness shot wise is we dont have any realy strong shots that focus on one pool.

I am a Master Doc/Master Carbineer/Novice Bralwer.

That template will allow you to buff when you need money. A few buff sessions and you can easily afford to buy +25 CArbine Speed tapes and plates, since no one really cares about carbine these things are a steal (on most servers).

Who needs defence when you can heal the intimidate and the dizzy before you ever go down, and with novice brawler you can stick the intimidate on any melee defence stacker (the stun battons'/Jawa Ion rifledamage goes down significantly when the user is intimidated.)

The only thing I can't solo are NS Elders, kryats, kimos and of cource SBD/Corvette due to a lack of Melee Mitigation 3 and no Toughness makes these guys really hard, and no Carbine State Special will work on high end mob except the occasional Charge Shot (KD).

My only other advice is to hunt high end mobs such as ancient bull rancors or run the Dark Jedi Knight mission out of Dathomire to get Dot Carbs, i you can't beat them join them.

Being a DOC/Carbineer takes brains over brawn just make sure you also get accuracy while moving tapes since you should have your running shoes on while doing any PvP.

seems like Elder resists keep changeing but i fought one recently and it has 15% energy and %15 blast. they should be doable as a doc/carbineer... my master fencer and a melee def stscker and a doc/RM almost killed one UNBUFFED. andi wasnt even hurting it (fencers cant hurt them literally) so i was just a unbuffed tank (and i did pretty good) just watch out for force....if it didnt have force choke we would have won
