Hi Carbineers

Been thinking of complimenting MAster Doctor with Carbineer lately, I've heard its very good.

In fact Im very excited about it.

I have one or two quesiotns. I would like to start PvP'ing and I've heard that crippling shot is very good. Being a Doc, I don't think I should have any problems using Carbineer specials.

What I would like to know, its what can I expect in terms of firing speed...I would like to get as close as possible to the speed cap. I understand that crippling shot has a high delay so that could be a challenge.

My thinking at the moment is to get a heavily speed sliced Laser Carbine and put a 30% Speed powerup on it for PvP....what kind of delay could I expect with that kind of setup? Is there a better way of going about it?

Any and all advice appreciated.

A large speed slice + a good speed powerup on a well made/krayt laser carbine, will allow you to hit the speed cap with Crippling shot. But in doing so you see that your laser won't do as much damage as another gun in the same situation. A damage sliced DH17 with a max/min damage powerup will have a higher damage and lower HAM costs. I only mention the ham cost, because even if you're a doctor(I'm a master carbineer/master doctor myself), you will run into many situations where you can't use your medical abilities to your advantage.

First, you don't always have the foresight to buff yourself. Considering that...

Second, If you plan on wearing armor, your mind is not invulnerable to ham costs. When firing quickly, your mind can be depleted in a hurry. Using a stim pack on yourself is not without cost. With armor on it's a devestating hit to your mind pool, and without it's still no laughing matter.

Solutions:
If you know a battle is coming, but don't have the time to buff yourself. Muon Gold. Never use Muon during battle, you don't get the +500 to your mind pool, only to your maximum. Using it outside of a battle situation will add the 500 mind to your pool, along with the +500 bonus to mind secondaries. This will take care of any stimpack use or HAM hits to your pool.

If you're caught unaware, always have good food hotkeyed. Undoubtably the best food I've seen for Carbineers, is Breath of Heaven. This adds a large bonus to 3 specific secondaries. Strength, Quickness, and Focus. For those who know, these are the attributes that dictate how much of the pool is spent to execute a special or something of the like(HAM costs). Using a Breath of Heaven(Drink) reduces HAM costs drasticly.

If your mind pool is low, there is Angerian Fishak Suprise(Drink). All it does is adds 500 to your mind pool(current and maximum), whether you're in a battle or not. This is what is known as the "Mind Stimpack". So if you're running low on mind from using stims on yourself, and are still taking hits. Toss back a Fishak, stim yourself and you're back in the battle.

All in all, from what I've experienced...Chefs are a Carbineer's greatest friend. They can completely take away what is the #1 plague on our class, the ridiculous HAM costs, and all food is instant(doesn't follow the combat queue). Have fun with Carbineer, it's a great class, and I'll be having great fun with it until some stupid holocron tells me otherwise.

Thanks for the awesome response Dirge..you rock

Just to clarify, Will I also hit the speed cap with crippling and a damage sliced/damage powered upDH17?

What sort of damage in PvE and PvP we talking about here ?

Again, thanks for all the help, I appreciate it

I think master doc/carbineer make a decent template but does not do the most damage, if you want just pure damage, Bh carbine 3 and master carbineer will offer the most damage, you can use a normal laser carbine with damage slice and damage powerup, ignore the speed slice or powerup and still hit 1 second on all your special, but instead relying on buff pack, you need get food that's about it. a DH carbine even with damage slice/damage powerup wouldn't out damage a laser carbine with just a damage slice simply due to the AR 2. on any armored critter, DH suffer 50% less damage right off on ar 1 critter and 25% less on every ar on top of the ar 1.

With that combination you noted above, with the speed mods of a Master Carbineer, you will hit the speed cap with Crippling Shot.

As for the damage, we're talking cross servers, and different servers have different gun stats because of different resources, and so on, and so on. So I can't give you an exact answer, but on average with my krayt DH17, damage sliced and with a min/max damage power up, you can pull over 1k damage if the crippling shot is followed by a Charge Shot knockdown, and anywhere from 300-700 damage for a norman cripple hit. I usually use the action bleed/legshot technique against heavily armored players(i.e. composite armor), so I can't really give you an estimate from consistant use.

on flurry the laser carbine is 30-270 damage 3.4 second unslice and no powerup, I usually just use a 350 damage slice carbine, but I have a 450 krayt carbine that's 2.8 second. no powerup either, on 350 carbine I hit 4k damage on crippling, and on the 450 I hit 6k or so once, since I start with 3 fire knockdown then cripple I did 8k once.
