Thread: what would go good with carbine?
I'm going to have to say Doctor is the best class to go with Carbineer, mainly because I think there are way too many creature handlers in this game. It's actually a lot better than going with Bounty Hunter because you can master both, you have buffs that can triple your Health and Action and increase your secondaries and tertiaries enough to reduce the HAM costs on your carbines to the minimum of 1, and you can provide both combat and critical healer skills (you're hunting party will love you if you bring resuscitation packs).
Anotherprofession to consider if you're looking for more than just combat effectiveness is Ranger. This class is actually a lot of fun right now, and there are a lot of useful skills that the Ranger gets.
Heres a few ways I have spec'd before. I am gunning for master carbineer, but at the time of these specs, I was not (still am not. close. so very close)
Master Carbineer, BH carbine 3, novice medic
then
Master Carbineer, Ranger (just the tracking line), novice medic + first aid, rifleman (just sniping line) + 7 points I couldn't figure out what to do with
finally, and this is what I am staying at. I am close to master in both
Master Carbineer, Master Combat medic, +4 points I am lost as to where to spend.
I settled on the final because I needed to cut my downtime. I work lousy hours, and I went for 3 days at one point with over 100 wound points in every physical stat.
In that respect, I started Combat Medic rather then Doctor because I am more combat focused. Don't get me wrong. Doctor is a GREAT addition to Carbineer. One of the best. I see the buffs, however, as more defensive than offensive. I wanted more offensive power. Our 2 action bleeds, plus stacking action aoe and single target poisons, plus action disease is a pretty mean way to go about things. As an added benefit, I am able to heal my PA in battle. There is no downtime due to wounds, etc. anymore. The best thing I like about the medic lines is you can gain xp while PvPing.
I'll agree with Dustin on his point: There are too many CHs in the game. No bashing from me, in this post at least, but they are everywhere. CHs are GREAT for PvE. All but a necessity for a group to function. PvP, however, is a bit different. pathing and so on makes pets not so useful on occasions. I've been taken down by pets in a fight. I have, however, also taken down the pets owner, the pet, and the owner's friends in a fight as well.
Ultimately, think about your playstyle. I have bounced around sooo much. I was CH at release (and beta) but I wanted to become part of the solution, not part of the problem. I took AND dropped BH carbine TWICE. I have finally found a combo that works for me. Wish i would have gone for it earlier.
Best of luck,
I'd have to say BH carbine tree and some medic skills if you're going for PvP. The speed at carabineer + BH is insane - you're able to spit crippling every second (they really should make BH speed and carbineer speed and calculate the specials delay based on which tree's special you're using and then raise carbineer speed to 80)
PvM you can go doc and fight with groups or you can go CH and do more soloing. Hmm actually now that I think about it a master musician will perfectly complement the master carabineer ... you know you can entertain the folks at the camp playing and then you can entertain them in the field by killing yourself with your own specials
Iwent Master Carbineer, Master Creature Handler, Medic with First Aid 4 and Pharm to 3, Scout with explore and hunting 4( needed for CH) Trapping 3, Marksman, Carbines of course to 4, Combat Special Abities to 3
I was once a squad leader pistoleer; i have now shifted to combat medic and carbineer. I like squad leader. The scout skills aquired getting it are useful, and the abilities come in handy.
I suppose that I would have to reccomend you NOT become a squad leader/carbineer-- it all comes back to HAM. Depending on group size, your abilities as a squad leader take a LOT out of you. It is certainly possible, just make freinds with a good medic.
PS, squad leaders have more problems than carbineers do. ![]()
Actually... here's some interesting facts for those of you seeking to do master carbinier AND the carbine ladder in BH (this of course assumes you have master marksman, master scout, and bounty carbine 4):
Master Carbinier and Bounty Carbine 4 allows you the following status mods:
Carbine Accuracy: +165
Carbine Speed: +110
I'm sorry... but that +165 to accuracy is more than enough reason to go that extra ladder in Bounty hunter. And generally with the experience you earn, you can either go Squad Leader, Creature Handler, Ranger, or into most of the other combat elite professions with some minor effort.
If you dont mind having to carry food and being dependant on others for buffs and poison cures carbineer with bounty carbine 3 and novice medic is a pretty solid template. If you are always in a group bh carbine 4 with ranger and some tracking becomes an option.
If you like to be more self reliant(sp) type carbineer doc is very nice. BUffs at master add 1-2k to each stat for 2-3 hours with little work put into them. You can cureany poisons/diseases you get and heal a ton.
Another effective pvp template is carbineer combat medic. Good healing, area poisons, and high damage specials from carbines. LOL action posions, actions bleeds, and leg shot 2 hurt. Especialy sense for some reason you can toss a poison further than you can shoot a rifle. (dont ask me I just play the game)
And as always carbineer and creature handler go well together.
