Thread: Currently TKM/Master Commando/Smuggler0110, thinking of going Carbineer/Master Combat Medic

I really like my current setup but i've had it for a bit and would like to try something different. However, i could not bear it if i became significantly weaker, i already feel pretty weak compared to some elite players. Would i suffer a significant drop in strength if i made the switch?
I've heard some people say carbineer is messed up and not what it should be, and i've heard others say its one of the best if you know what you're doing.
Opinions?
(i also want to be strong enough to do the force sensitive quests)
I don't know about the FSS quests. However, MCarbines-MCM is a rather strong combination, depending on what you are doing. In general for offense you can toss a poison or two, then use your ranged state effects to keep the opponent off balance while the poisons tick. You will also have a strong support role in group combat (area cures, area knockdown, etc.). Finally, where combat medic shines (high end combat and PvP) is coincidentally where carbineers have the most trouble (since they can't apply states and have limited weaponry), so you will always have something to do in a group.
You may have issues with harvesting resources (as I recall, MCM-MRanged doesn't give enough SP for artisan or scout), so you might have issues with the crafting. You can probably find more details about that in the combat medic's forums though. From a carbineer perspective though, I think the area effects of carbineer cross well with the area effects of combat medic.
One thing to point out though is coming from a TKM-MCommando background, you will likely notice a very large drop in attack strength and defenses. This is not to say that MCM-MCarbines is weaker, just a drastically different play style. Don't just write if off because you can't go LD and kill two agro'd enraged rancors (yes, a TKM friend told me he did that on Dathomir once). It might not be for you, but give it a fair chance.
