Was bored on.. err... Friday, so started scribbling an idea out for a Master Carbineer only quest that would reward the player with a schematic for a craftable CL50 Kinetic Carbine (which only requires carbineer skills, so not a czerka clone). This is as far as I've gotten but I know the rough plot line for the next bit. Perhaps when it's finished I'll bug one of the devs But in the meantime, here's a sneak preview of the quest.

Bothan spy in Nyms Stronghold on Lok.

Converse:
(Non Master Carbineer)
"Grrrr! Those mercenaries will pay for this.. What? Sorry, I don't think you can help me, I'm looking for a RELIABLE mercenary." (stop conversing)

(Master Carbineer)
A)"You looking for work merc? You have to be reliable."
o Yeah, what you got for me? (goto B)
o No, I'm busy right now.
"Ah, you mercenaries are all scum anyway, get out of here!" (stop conversing)
o Stop Conversing (stop conversing)

B)"Right, I'm come straight with you right now, I'm short on credits, the last mercenaries I hired were 're-hired' not to complete the task I set them, so I can't offer much in the way of credits. But what I can offer you is a copy of a top secret schematic for the latest carbine from Czerka. Still interested?"
o Sure thing. (goto C)
o No, this isn't what I'm looking for.
"Ah, you mercenaries are all scum anyway, get out of here!" (stop conversing)

C)"Great! Here's the deal. I work for Golan Arms and we've been working on a new carbine recently, only our 'informants' have discovered that Czerka are close to releasing a new carbine which resembles ours, only they're 3 months ahead of us in development. What we need is someone to get a hold of the current schematic for the carbine they are developing and bring it back to us. With the schematic for theres and our research we should be able to leapfrog them and put ours on the market first."
o Let me guess. I'm the person who needs to get that schematic for you? (goto D)

D)"You mercs aren't as dumb as you look. Here's the plan then. There is a secret meeting between Czerka and Imperial Munitions about to go ahead here on Lok for distribution rights. We've managed to get the Imperial Munitions representative held up in space, but we need you to quickly get to the meeting point and get that schematic for us before we find the Empire knocking on our door. I've uploaded the waypoint of the meeting to your datapad. Go there quickly and bring me back the schematic!"
o How much trouble could it be? (stop conversing)

==== Waypoint is uploaded to players datapad. At the location there is an unattackable Protocol droid with the converse option and four "a Gammorean Bodyguard" CL75 Elite with hostile intentions. Player must kill the four Gammoreans then speak to the protocol droid ====

A)"What? Oh my, I really don't think you're a representative of Imperial Munitions. You certainly don't look like one."
o Give me that schematic for the carbine before I make sure YOU don't look like a droid anymore! (goto B)
o I think you know what I'm looking for, so just hand it over and tell me what you're doing making deals with the Empire (goto C)

B)"Oh you are so rude. I just don't know where these sort of people get there manners from. Personally I blame the parents... What? Oh the schematic. Here have it, it's not worth my head!" (return to Bothan spy)

C)"Czerka has an exclusive distribution deal with the Empire so any newly developed weapons get the look over from Imperial Munitions and they decide if they want the new weapon to be for the Imperial Army or if Czerka can sell it on the mass market. We're over three months ahead of our nearest rivals at BlasTech and Golan Arms in developing this new carbine so it'll be no use to you!" (return to Bothan spy)

==== Player returns to Bothan and converses with him ====

A)"You have it? Wonderful! Let me have a look.. Oh... Oh no..."
o "Oh no?" I don't like "Oh no's".. What's gone wrong? (goto B)
o The deal was the schematic, now where's my copy? (goto C)

B)"I was foolish and stupid. In my haste to get the schematic I forgot they would have encoded it and without the appropriate decoder the schematic is useless!"
o Won't that protocol droid have a decoder? I could go back and 'persuade' it to hand it over.
"No, the droid wouldn't carry the decoder for the schematic for this exact reason. Czerka would have sent the decoder to Imperial Munitions for the representative to use when they recieved the schematic. There is one small chance we could salvage this though.
o Which would involve me doing what exactly?
"Czerka has a specialist office in Theed that might carry a backup of the decoder, it's a longshot, but the best one we have."
o I'll go there right now and get the decoder for you.
"Go there, but don't come back here. When Imperial Munitions finally land and find out what's happened they'll be scouring the planet looking for you. Instead get the decoder from the office and head to Kor Vella on Corellia, we have a small office there which will decode the schematic. I'll send a message ahead to let them know who you are and to give you the reward when you get there. Good luck, the office will likely have security to prevent this sort of thing"
o I knew this would be a bad idea..."

C)"Ok, ok.. Sure, you can have a copy of the schematic if you want. The only downside is that they've encoded it and I don't have a decoder, so currently the schematic is useless, so if you want a readable copy of the schematic then you'll have to help me once more."

Sounds good so far. But why oh why does the quest giver have to be Bothan?!

That's a beter quest plot that anything SOE has cranked out yet IMO...I would LOVE to see it implemnted.
