Last night I did about 3 hours of testing. Macros, two shot combos, timer alternating, speed buff, speed pups, and dancing a jig.

My DPS according to SWG should be around 600 with my bola, 25 carb speed, 25 general ranged speed etc etc.

BUT i could only get just over 300DPS.

SWG figure must we when your enemy is bald naked with his nose taped onto your barrel and him helping u pull the trigger too.

or is it LAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you read these forums you'll find that nobody accepts the DPS estimates as valid numbers. This is because the DPS formula is a straight up mixture of the weapon's speed and damage and does not include any representation of the cool-down timers that you must face between specials. In short, you couldn't get the DPS that is listed on your gun because that figure bears no resemblance to reality.

Unfortunately that's not true.

I believe it. With a speed pup, thedps on my proton carb is around 800, but I do way more damage with my E11 Mark 2. The E11 is speed sliced with way lower sac than the proton, and when I put any kind of pup in it, whether it be a speed, or damage pup, the highest dps that I can get on it is around 600, but I do get more out of it than the proton, so, I don't even really look at the dps anymore.

There is actually an NPC in Mos Eisley (part of the Mayor's quests)that tells you, "DPS is the most important thing to know about a weapon." I kid you not.

Try it with ranged shot vs other shots. There is a major bug affecting certain, if not all, weapons where the specials are using the wrong speed. The specials are using base speed instad of your modified speed.

This is absoletly confirmed for lightsabers, for example, that all LS specials use base speed except the basic "saber hit" attack which uses the correct modfified speed.

I heard that this affects some other professions, possibly all.

So Modified DPS can NEVER be correct or meaningful until specials start to USE the proper speed stat.

In short, this has been broken since the beginning of CU, it is a major flaw in the coding that makes combat the slow motion ballet that we currently have.

I'm glad I read this before I posted. I have been trying to figure out why I can get so easily tossed about without doing any damage when I should have a large amount of speed in my trusty carbine. It looks like it's possibly off the DPS not taking affect.

A big reason DPS is disregarded is that the various specials have inherent delays.

You can get off Ranged Shots in quick order, but spamming powerful specials like Adv.Critical Shot and Impr.Leg Shot brings significant delays in comparison.

For those that haven't gotten it across into their heads yet: Disregard DPS! Ignore it!

While DPS doens't show everything on a weapon, I wouldn't go as far as to ignore it completely. It is still the average damage over the speed, and we know that a lower speed on a weapon, make it strike faster, and that higher damage makes it hit harder...

I would pick a 300 dps weapon over a 200 dps one every day. It isn't accurate, but it does give you an appreciation.

Well slap my thigh - looks as though there is a bug in the game (or is that a game in the bugs?).

Ill do some more work but one things for sure, the myth about alternating low level attacks with specials for higher DPS is dead wrong. Most DPS was achieved using high power special after high power special and then using ranged until action is backto full bar.

More later.

Or just spamming the two highest damaging specials constantly because you've got a 52 SAC weapon
