Thread: Seriously considering switching Pistols for carbs.

ok i had a sad expeirience the other day. i am a MBH/Mpistol with a nice pistol (68 SAC, 1.85 speed, 952 max fwg5) and was attacking a little lvl 69 jedi. he serioulsy couldn't do like more than 200dmg to me per shot, so i was in no risk of dieing. but with my combo of critical shot/torso shot (in rapid succession) i only knocked his hp down to like 50%(around 800 + 600 in 2 shots) and he'd do a heal for 1500pts (advance force heal) so i basically COULND"T out damage his darn healing. He got a ride from a friend and rode off. i decided not to chase figuring it wasn't worth it.



SOOOOOO... i come looking for more damage.
i love pistols, and really dont want to drop them (i have 2 really nice pistols made alredy too) But i think i need a little more dmg if im gonna keep hunting jedi.
however; i really like states, and crowd control. (not enough to go MCM though). So i ask you almight carbiners to comprise a list of pro's and cons of carbines. I hear they have 2(?) different snares, and 1 KD (giving me 2 different ones with BH's 'underhand shot) is this true?


also i have 4 enhanced powercells : 181max, -.77 speed, and -8SAC. What carbiens take Krayt tissues/PC's and only need 4 or less?

You could go MBH / MCarbineer / Pistoleer 0134.

Pros
+ Good target control from:
MBH: Underhand Shot (KD)
MCarbineer: Charge Shot (KD), Crippling Shot (Best Ranged Weapon Snare), Suppression Fire (short lived area Snare; fast recharge)
Pistoleer: Intimidate Shot, Impr.Stopping Shot (still reliable Root)
[You'll have the majority of the tools you'll need to keep some distance between you and the Jedi]

+ Some of the best damage specials for ranged fighters... MBH's Adv.Critical Shot & Carbineer's Impr.Leg Shot.
+ Master Carbineer's Adv.Rapid Fire is an excellent alternate attack for good damage and recharge time. I alternate it with Impr.Leg Shot with my character for higher pure damage output.

+ Excellent area attacks for group PVP and farming NPCs / MOBs. Done by alternating Impr.Full Auto Area with Impr.Fan Shot.

+ Still well rounded defenses: Melee Defence +190 / Ranged Defense +210

+ Carbines' superior range compared to Pistols.

Cons
- No healing boxes in this template. Highly reliant on Stims and Ruby Bliel.

- Higher SAC cost; higher on average by 10 compared to Pistol SACs. Still, at least the SAC is not like Rifles and Heavy Weapons.


Be sure to take up a good Kinetic Carbine for those PSG equipped Jedi.

If taking Master Carbineer is too much for you, you could:
Take up Carbineer x4xx for Impr.Leg Shot and Impr.Crippling Shot
Take up Carbineer xx3x for Impr.Charge Shot.
These 2 trees are the most critical for Carbineer.

X-Wing:Alliance was the last good Star Wars space game. It's capable of single player via campaigns or skirmishes (think instant combat). You can also play together with others online via the skirmish mode also. The big problem is that you can't play the campaign together online. The previous game, "X-Wing vs TIE Fighter," used to allow it.

It came out in late 1998 and we were expecting an Imperial expansion to it. But, with Episode I coming out in '99, all things Original Trilogy related were canned.

The link to the X-Wing:Alliance Upgrade (XWAU) is a group of old players / modders that got together to bring the devs' original ship models and textures into something far more up to date and as close to canon as it can be. Their aim also is focused on the existing, original game's ships. For example, the original Super Star Destroyer in the game was plain, ugly, and 8km long. When it's done by the team, it'll be detailed with some structures, newly textured, and of course, at it's actual size: 17.6km. You'll love what they've done to the X-Wing and other various classical craft. The Imperial Star Destroyer and Interdictor are beautiful to behold.

The other link leads to Darksaber's X-Wing Station. He's contributed to the XWAU in the past and I think he still does. He's got a few other things not included in the XWAU, as well as links to a couple important XWA fan sites.

Something to keep in mind is that if your mark has enough Force Healer to have the 1500 heal, you wont outdamage their helas with carbines OR rifles either. At that point the best you can do is wear them down. Jedi die when their force it out. They only die BEFORE their force is out if they screw up, at least that is usually true for full template Jedi. I believe that you CAN be more dangerous with a carbine, but I also thinkk that either way you are going to have to try and outlast their force or mind.

And keep your FWG5. Thats a really nice one, and Jedis still wear PSGs from time to time

Ok well i sincerly appreciate your help on the subject. i think i'll end up Keeping my template except for switchign pistols for carbines. So i'll be MBH/MCarbs/xx3x medic and FS skills. i like root and intimidate(saved my butt more than once) but i think healing is more important, and i really want a second cahracter - thus FS.
hey what is the deal with the x-wing alliance link in ur sig. all i can gather is its a multiplayer space game but looks liek ton of fun.
