I had a weird and frustrating HAM problem last night...I have no idea where to post this. My first thought is here because I find this forum speckled with players who are on the ball.

We went out hunting last night. My Doc buddy came along and buffed me up. I had 2-3k in all my buffable stats. So, essentially, the HAM costs for firing my specials would be what people refer to as zero...in reality there is still a mind cost associated with firing that usually is around 20-25ish. I have all my extra points into Willpower so my mind normally refreshes fast enough that its no big deal.

Then last night, things changed. First my HAM costs were around 30. I checked and double checked and had no extra damage to mind stats. I was taking my helmet on and off (cost would go up and down a few). The only thing that sticks out is I was using a very old and dear laser carbine (sliced 31-314, 3.5 reload) that is on its last legs (it was like 75/950). I am grinding the laser to 0/950 to then hang on my wall. Anyway, I noticed the damage was dropping on the carbine and so I thought that was the source. However, switching to a brand new carbine I brought with me resulted in the same HAM costs.

Then halfway through the night...It was now costing me 35 mind to fire....then 40....I was constantly needing to stop to rest to regen my mind. All the people who were with me are regular hunters and even they were asking, "hey whats wrong?"

Any ideas or suggestions where this was coming from?

Don't know about the HAM but I noticed the same damage loss as my last laser carb got down under 100 condition. Took a few fights before I switched weapons to test the results and found a lower damage weapon consistently doing a lot more damage.

did you get slain and revived by your doctor friend? (seems unlikely if you were buffed.) after being revived, secondary stats get stuck at a low level until you get a bite to eat.

also... did you go to a cantina to get mind buffed? could be that after a musician mind buff wears off you get some weirdness.

I think that as weapons take more and more damage, they incur penalties to their stats. All of their stats. Did you notice if you were firing a little bit slower as well (not that you could really notice a .1 drop)? I don't think this is a carbine issue, but applies to all weapons.
