So, I have another post on here asking if I should drop Ranged Weapon Support in order to go up a Carbineer skill tree...and after last night...I am only going to drop Ranged Weapon Support IV.

Warning shot at Ranged Weapon Support III is great. I have had it forever and have never used it! Last nighta couple ofus were trying to pull some big creature from a nest on Dantooine butseveral of them charged...one of themcame to me and soright as i was about to be incap...iused warning shot, hit myself with some meds, then it came back and i did this again...on the third round, i put my peton it as it turned to run from my Warning Shot...just like that i suddenlyhave a comfortable distance between me and the creature and back to full health....although the night was not a great success, these moments were and i learned a lot.

just thought i would share and say thanks to those who were giving me advice...as for the Carbineer tree, i will just have to pull some points from somewhere else.

Yeah, warning shot works great.

As a combat medic/carbineer, if I'm firing off specials at all during grouped PvE it's usually done in a defensive capacity (ie.posture down to stop an advance/cover a retreat, or warning shot to kite a mob off of a badly mind beaten groupmate).

Grab yourself a pair of fast firing carbines, one with good short range, and one with good long range modifiers. If a mob gets in your face fire off a warning shot with the short range carb. Then quickly switch to the long range carbine and shoot the mob in the back with a second warning shot as it's still running from you. 7 times out of 10 the mob will run out past 100+ish meters and leave combat.

Yeah, I've been experimenting with a macro using warning shot. You have to be careful about the rate of fire though, since if you fire too frequently it will just scare the mob away outright. Too slowly and they get to beat the stuffing out of you while you wait.
Since I'm rather new to the class, I just hit upon the idea of using two carbines, and just picked up a dh17 snubby so that I could use it as my high-speed close-range device, and use the elite at greater distances.
Before now, my TKM skills have been my close-in option, but they don't train carbine very well.

My abilities against mobs would be gimped without the ranged support abilities. If you are fighting a critter that will kick your butt in melee warning shot is an invaluable means of breaking contact. You can also stop one critter dead in its tracks so that you can finish off its partner. And let's not forget the ultimate ranged combo: Warning shot followed by suppression. If you need to get space from an animal warning shot it away and start heading in the opposite direction, then use suppress. These shots work in PvP fights in which an animal is on you, too, and I don't know how many times they've saved my butt.

Warning shot is one of the best shots in the game...it even works against players pets...it funny to watch a CH's reaction when their pet turns heal and runs!

Warning Shot is great. At first, I thought it didn't work right because every time I used it, then animal would run 3-4 steps then run right back at me. Then I discovered what was really happening. If you make an animal run from you with warning shot, they will continue running until you shoot at them again. If you shoot warning shot, make the creature run, then hit peace before you shoot again, the creature will often run right off your radar. This is VERY useful when you get attacked by more than one creature at a time and want to even the odds. Yep, warning shot has earned a permenant spot in my hot-key bar.
