Thread: Character Stats

I think that I may have made a mistake. It appears that starting professions (the first six) most begin with 2950 stat points divided between the HAM. Marksman apparently starts with 3050. Can anyone verify this? I would assume that each would start with the same amount, divided of course as fit. It would seem only logical (if this is true) to start as a marksman...oh well for me.

One more question...do stats increase at all (not including food or drink usage, etc.) or are they set and can only be migrated?

your profession does not affect how many points you get for HAM.. your race on the other hand does, wookies get the most.

Yes I know, but your profession dictacts how it is divided. It appears that (as a wookie) marksman has the highest starting stats (100 more than other professions, as stated above). Wouldn't they all be the same, as they can be migrated? Otherwise there would be no point to start as anything other...

stat migration takes a long while in game.. sure you can migrate instantly during the tutorial right after character creation, but not everyone knows you can do that.. plus not everyone knows what they want their stats to be cuz they might be brand new to the game.. thus the profession will dictate proper stat settings for that profession. The point total, though, shouldn't be any different. The total HAM points for a wookie scout and a wookie marksman should be the same. If they're not, then SOE is screwing something up, because they've stated that they are supposed to be.

I agree that they should be the same...I made one of each profession, just curious, and it appeared an uneven balance to the marksman. Maybe I wrote it down wrong, maybe not. Just wondering if anyone has has noticed this?

...also www.swgcenter.com has a list of professions and race, and what the starting stats are. They're website confirms this.

if this is true, then i'd wonder if profession would also, then, affect the maximums for the various stats. That would balance it out a little. Example, my trando started as a marksman and I can only max out stamina to 400 (which seems odd for a marksman). If I had made a medic, would that max then only be 300? or 350? Or if I'd gone entertainer would it have gone to 500? I haven't messed with other characters so it would be interesting to see if this is the case. If it's not, then what the hell is the point in choosing a starting profession? The clothes? The equipment? Those can be had dirt cheap on the bazaars. Sounds like SOE needs to fix this, else everyone should simply start out as a marksman, or whichever gets the most stats, and migrate them in tutorial and then go buy the novice skill of whatever you actually want to be. Then surrender marksman if you don't want it at all.

Hey, I am going M Carbineer/Bh Carbine 3/N Medic. Im a human. Im wondering what stats would be good for me. I plan on wearing full composite and I heal myself so I dont really need health or action regen. But, what doy uo think I should migrate them to?

Also, maybe we could start this as a thread to help other new carbineers.

Mabye I'm Insane {Think I am} I go with something like this

Health: 800

Action: 800

Mind: 800

All my Regen rates are 450 but for mind which is 500

My other stats that make the Ham cost lower are either maxed out or close to it.

I use stim C's and I don't pvp much because I kill myself faster then the enemy.

I tend to go a little action heavy on my stats. When you're starting out, Legshots are your best bet, and they blow through your action pool. Once you get up to burst shot, you should be ok evening things out a bit, though I'd probably take 100 points away from mind and give health and action an extra 50 each.

well, my HAM are all at 800. my stamina and quickness are maxed out. my physical stats are both at 700, and my mind are at like 475 each. pretty fast regen considering im a trandoshan works well for me, your mileage may vary

I try to go maxed out on mind, as of right now entertainer mind buffs suck, but doctor buffs, which affect action and health stats (and their secondaries) are good. So you can always buff them.
