Hello everyone, I though of sharing some pvp knowledge with everyone here. I see many people complaining about how carbine is not that effective, the speed, the ham cost and vice versa. Carbine has been my main weapon since mid summer, even as a master Bounty I was still using carbines and now i'm a true Master Carbineer / doc.

Some info about me...

Well I lead a guild known as Revolution Industries on Sunrunner. When it comes to PVP, we are among the most brutal rebel guild around. What made us powerfull is the fact that we were the only Rebel guild to own a Faction HQ for 2 weeks. That means... 14 nights in a row, 100+ players in revena Fighting over the base. We also participated in the Bela Vista War... around 60 rebs vs 60 Imps... 2 hour carnage in the city. In most fight I have been into... I was always one of the last survivors, I simply don't die that often and I do massive damage in many cases... This guide will cover only the basics... it's actually good for most ranged class. Later on, I will go deeper in the carbineer skills and tactic... from open air to urban warfare.

NOTE: This reflects my own experience, I hope those tips, tactics and combat style can help you. Plz add your own pvp experience in this post.

Carbineers is a class that requires alot of thinking and practice... Unlike any other combat classes. Our skills and moves cannot be used in anykind of situation. While Pistoleer and Riflemen can and will always use the same 2 or 3 moves in any battle, we cannot. Each time weare about to shoot someone, we have to think of the outcome... *hummm... Should I use a charge shot on this Pistoleer/TKm... If I kd him and he gets back upthen rush me with a Vk, I won't be able to stop him for 20 to 30 seconds... hummm*

We also need many kinds of weapon, using only LC or EC is not always the key, some carbines are much better in close combat and others in long range. Make sure to have a nice collection of carbines, you should always have 3 to 5 carbines on you in any PVP situation. Try to have a different selection of them.. Many might not know it but ACC is the most important thing in PVP... here's a link that doesn't talk about carbine but the basics are the same........

Now that you have your carbine collection... time to move to the basic movements in combat with a carbine.

I see 3 styles of combat with a carbine. The standing style,The always moving style and the hybrid.

- Standing Style

Your not moving, your simply shooting at your target... Even if he's moving, you won't miss too much. This is good versus a pistoleer at long range (30M+) When you need to move, you should simply walk. Of course, don't use that versus a melee profession.

- Always in movement style

Your ACC will be low but your defence will be higher... Versus a rifleman, this is yourbest chance to stay alive. your defence is much higher. You should always use a move for each shots... it raises your chance to hit. Versus a melee... well you don't have much choice.

- Hybrid

Why hybrid ? I like to call it like that because your not always standing and your not always moving... Your trying to use both to maximize your ACC and Defence. This requires alot of practice with your favorit weapon, you have to know the exact refresh time of your weapon. The basic of this is, when your shooting, your standing still... when your not shooting, your moving.

A cheap exemple: Your Laser Carbine can spam cripple shot every 2 seconds... So you would be fighting like that... Run - Stop - cripple shot - run for 1 second - stop - cripple shot.... etc

Sounds stupid huh? Trust me, it's not and it's not easy to do but the good players that uses that small tactic are much harder to hit. Of course, this won't make you a god... it's only helping you to stay alive.

Carbineer... never use prone hehe, crouch is good for certain team combat situation but you should always be on your two feets. Yes, much better ACC but you become an easy target and if someone is bright enough, he can simply stick dizzy on you.

Don't be a hero...

No!!! unlike any other combat class... don't rush or hunt someone. You will likely get killed. Learn to maintain yourself, stay in your safe zone and run outside of his shooting range when needed. Don,t be affraid to run back, heal then run back in... Your not a chicken... you need to use that tactic, you need to run away at times. You also have moves to keep your enemie far from you, you are the king in a battle. you decide where you want to be and where you want your enemie to be... Action shot, Supression shot, Charge shots are your friends for that.Ifyou want to stay around 30 to 40M, you can do it with ease while the other target is completely helpless on deciding where he wants to be.

Alright, I hope this basic guide can help you. I mostly talked about movements and Acc in this post. I'll try to write one that talks about: Team Combat, Offensive carbineers and Support Carbineers...

That's anice guide however there are many situations such as facing opponents with 90% composite armor, a full set of buffs, and a stun weapon.
