Thread: The role of a carbineer.

In my few days of experience of carbines, not even master, I quickly realise the role of a carbineer. In PvP and PvE, it's a support role.

All the area attacks, posture changes, KDs, states. It makes up for a great combination of power and control. I'm only 1/3/1/3 carbineer and I'm learning to control crowds in not only pve but pve. It's loads of fun, wish I picked it up earlier.

Once master I'm going to test it as a front line force rather then just a support position which i usually adopt.

Anyway, If you agree, disagree or want to add what you've learnt of carbineer please post it here. I'm still very new to the profession and would love the knowledge you guys have learnt to bring together.

Going to try to finish the profession in the next couple of days.

carbineer is soo much fun man....i love the area attack...and it can be used as a tank if you have a good melee prof to back it up...i haven't lost a duel in 2 days and i've dueled rifleman/docs, CMs, Fencers, pistoleer/expert bh's ....once you kite them and get a good dizzy kd ppl are defenseless

Master Carbineer / Master Combat Medic here.

I am the ultimate combat support, and I LOVE IT!

There is nothing like sitting back and popping action shots off at charging stormtroopers while tossing an area stim into the mass of swordsmen and tkm of my group.

Follow that up with FullAutoArea2 and a ChargeShot2, pray for the dizzy to stick then drop an area poison on them.

Man I love my job.

Now if I just had a good carbine, but I am working on that

Close to finishing my template, 3/3/4/4 carbineer and 0/3/0/0 BH so far, going to master carbines and tell you guys how it goes!

As a support roll in pvp and pve, at the moment, I do very well. Just keeping people down whilst a fencer or TK does the hard work is loads of fun. Or keeping 3 people down, either way, carbines are good!

Nice Jorah, congrats!

With the BH line (I have the same template) you'll do a lot better than support. Get some good guns (if you haven't found any so far, send a mail I have a few tips) and you'll rock, I often loose in a fight because there are 3+ guys on my tail (you know how it goes on WH ) but I always take one down with me. As a sidenote, don't rely much on the BH specials (except for underhandShot maybe), the investigator line is great for acc and spd mods, but carbineer specials are superior (since last patch).

Good luck

OK, I've been a master carbineer 3 days now, what I've worked out is not only is it a great support role but pretty good against 1 on 1.

Attacks I use:

I open up with wildshot until I land a stun, which doesn't take too long against the best stackers. Once landed, I'll hit 1/2 the time on major stackers, so I use fire knockdown, for two reasons. It has an excellent dizzy (sticks often and lasts a long time) and the KD lands alot of the time. Then it's either scatter shot 2 or crippling shot, depending on the target. If he gets up, action shot 2 to posture him down and get him on the group again, then finish him off.

In group attacks I usually open with wildshot 2 thenauto shot area 2 to dizzy majority of targets then charge shot 2, might just keep the majority of the targets down, then open up with auto shot area 2 until you get a few incaps, action shot 2 if people start getting up. Once I get the majority incappd I start on individual targets.

Gun I use 70% of the time is the laser, because of the medium AP, then sometimes the elite on unarmored targets and those with mitigation.

Hope this helps you guys.

I've been leveling a carbineer/pikeman lately, done with pike and 4/4/3/3 carbineer. Adding some Fencer defensive skills. Really looking forward to trying out this guy in pvp - guess he won't be all that hot in 1 vs 1 situations, but I've got great hopes for him in a supporting role

With good buffs and armor a carbineer can do anything he puts his mind to.

as only a 2-2-2-2 carbineer i can solo enraged rancor lairs. i usually start off with a couple of FullAutoSingles to stick a dizzy, throw in a charge shot or 2 for the KD. with some good 80% kenetic armor i can tank against them most of the day

As for our support role, i love it. i can get up close with the TKMs and use some point blank shots, or back off with the riflemen if im feeling lazy.

now without armor, how i use to hunt , you cant be quite as cocky about getting in their face... but standing at 50m hoping they dont come your way is no way to hunt.
