I am not talking about soloing krayts, but the Carbineer's role in a Krayt hunting group.

The most efficient group since to be Rifleman + Swordsman (swordman for tanking + high AP and good defense) both are hard hitting high AP and both do mind damage.

So how about us,can we play any significant role in a krayt group or are we just meat to bring along? Concentrate on doing debuff attacks like blind, stun, dizzy combine withdoing charge shot (and or Scattershot 2) hoping that some hit mind.

Not sure why you have to only hit a PvE target in the Mind.....that is for PvP

Laser Carbine is AP2 and should work fine on most of the Krayts. But don't expect to apply many states or KD's as resists to this go up with the target's level.

I went on a krayt hunt few nights ago, i think carbineer is more of a support professionimo. The other people in my group were commando, bounty hunter, fencer and tka.

I am pure carbineer without any other combat skills and stayed about 40-45m away from the krayt and spammed fullauto2 and crippling shot, charge shot does nothing to a krayt i tried many times action shot2 did apply a bleed but thats about the only state i could get to stick. I was using a laser and enhanced e11.

Two cents:

Most carbineers complain about damage. But I knew that carbineers weren't high-damage weapons when I started with them. I like that carbineers apply states that can help out a group. I think the big problem with carbineers is that it is almost impossible to apply states on higher-level monsters (nightsisters, krayts, etc.). I think that is the real problem with the profession. If we are to be a crowd-control profession, then we should stand a decent chance of applying states even to high level creatures.

I haven't been in the corvette yet, but I am quite sure that when I do, my states won't stick there either.

Exactly. I don't need to kill it, but I need to at least be helpful.

Incidentally I have managed to induce bleeding and at least 2 knockdowns on Krayts of various flavors. The trick is to have 5 people tanking it while you spam Charge Shot until something happens. Usually it'll fall down once for 2 seconds by the time he's down 2/3-3/4 health.

It doesn't help whatsoever, but it's a good feeling to knock a Krayt on his ass.

Give me a terrible foe and stack the odds against me.
Give me friends and creatures with whom I can share my adventures, my losses and my gains.
Let the gales blow and the world be torn asunder but don't make me stand alone against the tempest.

The reason to hit mind is that the perfect hunting group should all hit the same pool. And since the two best professions for Krayt hunting are Swordsman and Rifleman (high AP and damage)which both hit mind pool. It is of little use if I damage health or action while the other do mind damage.

I am not so worried about the damage. I think I do pretty good damage with my 591 max dam Laser (sliced and pup). It is not hitting the same pool that worry me.

BTW, anyone had any statistics on which HAM pool are hit most when using random pool attacks? IMO, health is hit most often followed by action.

actually, carbine might be useful if your group starts getting KSd by another group. why?

because any veteran krayt hunter knows that when another group starts hitting your krayt, you go for health/action. Strafe2 with rifleman, hit3 with swordsman... We managed to get back an ancient krayt that was at full H/A after it had been dropped to 100k mind using that tactic.

Most Nightsisters are either boring or 100% resist to me, so no I don't bother them much
