i'm looking for some suggestions or opinions on what Tree to take in carbineer. The two are Carbine Assault Tactics for Scatter Shot 1 and 2 or Carbine Marksmanship for the added Acc and Crippling Shot.
Is Scatter Shot more usefull/powerful than Crippling?
i'm kina at a stand still right now on which skills to drop out of the two for the Acc boxes in Pistoleer.
btw, my template is Master BH, carbineer 34xx, Pistoleer xx4x, and nov. medic (almost there)
(eited - just did the character builder. noticed I had just enough skill points to not have to make a decision on what to drop. but if there is any suggestions on what's more usefull, shoot

Check out the discussion in the FAQ. You will also find the Damage Modifier for each is the same, so they are nearly equal Specials IMO.

The FAQ's got a good breakdown of them, but a real quick blurb from me. Gauge your opposition. CripplingShot is almost exclusively Heath Damage, and ScatterShot2 tends to spread out. If you fight a lot of pure combat templates, CripplingShot's the way to go. If Novice Medic builds are more common, then you go with ScatterShot2 for the possible Mind damage.
By the numbers, these two are pretty close, its more a question of how the damage is distributed.

My rule of thumb is..
If you want to target Health, use Crippling Shot
If you want to target Action, use Legshot3
If you want to target Mind, use ScatterShot2
By 'target', I also mean "finish off".. as in someone who is low on a particular bar due to previous damage / DoTs.
(The aboveof course assumes you are speedcapped)

Well, I haven't been a carbineer for a terribly long time yet... but I've been getting a lot better and I use crippling shot all the time. When I duel, I make sure that my oponent has every state on them possible at all times. Then, I keep them on the ground for the rest of the duel
I think having supressionfire2 is a huge plus... not really sure of the effectiveness of supressionfire1. But once they are on the ground I use cripplingshot. I have a 608 max dmg laser carbine and I generally do about 500-600pts of dmg to people with ranged mitigation and 700-1200pts of dmg to people with no ranged mitigation.
Haven't really done a whole lot of experimenting with scattershot2 yet, but cripplingshot seems to work pretty nice for me.

i think accumulatively, cripplingshot and scattershot do the same damage... the only problem is that scattershot spreads the damage over all the pools instead of a powershot to one random pool per shot. I go crippling shot untill they get lower in health in which i go scattershot.... sometimes i use scatter depending on the template or state of my opponent.

I think this needs to be emphasised. Legshot is guaranteed to hit action, Crippleshot is 50%, Scatter is probably around 33% Chance to do considerable damage to the mind pool. But as a rule of thumb AdmrialSpy is correct
