Thread: A New Template

I was recently checking out the Fencer Forums due to the fact that I am currently grinding that prof for my Holo, and I noticed this interesting post by their correspondent. http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=fencer&message.id=11313


Has anyone tryed the Swordsmen/Carbineer template to stack all of that Counterattack? Just think with the 125 or so from carbineer and the however much from swordsmen that would be pretty mad. Throw in Teras Kasi Meditation branch and you got one hell of a template. I have seen several people on my server do the Pikemen/Riflemen & TK Meditation branch and it's just wicked because riflemen usually own Pure Carbineers. I'm also wondering what's more effective Carbineer/Swordmen & TK Meditation or Carbineer + BHer Carbine 3+ Nov Medic. Would be interesting to have those two templates fight.

My god I just realized that after mastering Carbineer, Swordsmen, novice medic, and then the TKA Meditation line you could also pick up another full line of TKA for defence, one box in medic, and still have 1 skill point left over. No wonder some of these people are L33T you can't hit them, they're powerboosted, buffed, on food/spice, and have a full set of Uber composite amor on. I GOTTA TRY THIS. With over the140 Counterattack alone I could empty the Tusken Fort. I didn't even bother to calculate all the other defensive mods!

I find cripple shot to be unpredicable and worthless so I don't use it. My old combo was fire KD till they dizzy, chargeshot 1, then scatter 2 till their mind was gone. Very effective, and it's depressing no one canreply to a decent threadconstructed withwell established comments.

Seems like you're talking to yourself in here but let me ask you a question. Can you pull off 900 point crippling shots every second in PvP with that template? Before everyone starts yelling "NERF CARBINIER'S!!" let me explain a little here. That only happens to people who do not have ranged mitigation 3, ONLY when they are knocked down, and ONLY when I get a really high damage roll with my krayt-enhanced damage-sliced and max/min damage powered up carbine. I do not want everyone to start thinking that this is a common everyday occurrance, because it isn't. Obviously I had to take bounty carbines III to be able to hit speed cap since we are the only ranged class that CANNOT hit speed cap at master. Like I said it is rare when it happens, but man, I just love chewing through buffed ham bars like a hot knife through butter. Now if I can only find 40 points worth of carbine speed SEA's I can finally drop BH and put those skill points somewhere useful, like SQUAD LEADER!!!

Good luck with that template by the way, I heard that the dodge/block/counterattack no longer stacks between different weapon types. Let us know what you find out.

Ummm......I guess I'm noone then huh? Crippling shot isn't unpredictable. The laser carbine that everyone seems to be in love with is what is unpredictable. I had my Elite made a looong time ago and it got a 27% damage slice. On my server right now there are adv. elite's (no krayt) that can match the same damage IF you can get a 35% damage slice.

My whole point there is that the special attacks have a set damage modifier, I believe I've heard that crippling shot multiplies your damage by 7.5. Any variation in the amount of damage you actually do is based solely on the guns stats. There is a huge difference between 40-340 damage and 155-333 damage, obviously one is going to be waaay more consistent than the other.

I've also HEARD that the medium armor piercing bonus is not being calculated in in PvP. So can someone explain to me the benefits of using a laser carbine? I just don't see it.

By the way, since you're talking about combo's, I rarely even use fire knockdown anymore. I usually open with chargeshot, hit 'em hard while they're down, and watch them try to run when they get up, it's great!! I have pretty much found fireKD to be wasteful, either the dizzy doesn't stick, or they don't fall over. In both cases I have to follow up with another shot, eitehr to dizzy or knock them down, and it costs too much to be using two to three times.

I have also tried the scattershot spam technique. The person I used it on was buffed, that's why I used it, heh, and by the time they fell even though they fell to their mind I had acutally done about twice as much damage to their action bar as I did their mind. I did a little math and concluded that if I had used cripplingshot instead I would have eliminated them faster, even though I would have been primarily attacking enhanced bars.

Wow!!! I really started rambling there didn't I? Well I hope this helps you some, and if not you then someone else who happens to be reading this but chooses not to respond.

IMO crippling isn't a great shot. it's just not. screw being able to fire it at the cap, if you've got massive counterattack mods and such you won't need to. burstshot1 is equally as effective.

i'll probably go swordsman after i finish off pikeman, just for the counterattack bonuses.

well im tired of no being able to do jack poop with higher level content. Im hoping to god that they give us a heavy armor piercing gun. or even a medium. Anyways i was looking at alternate templates while keeping mpistoleer and would like your advice on which one might be best.
