I am currently a 3 0 1 0 Carbineer.

Scattershotseems to be useless at this point, thats not to say the devs arnt working on it. It currently has a 3 or 4 second refresh with less damage then all but the weakest marksman abilities.

Charged shot however is very nice and works fairly often. Its reliable and i can count on it to get me out of a tight spot.

Leg shot is my main attack tho it is wonderful doing 2x the damage of my next best damage attack with fairly low action cost.

Full Area Auto I havnt been able to completely test tho the 1 time I did use it in group the aggro almost got me killed But it seems to work as planned.

That is allI have tested for now.

If at first you dont succeed...Cry to the devs to nerf whatever you tried to kill...

We are missing Improved Rapid Fire right now....along with Mods in the boxes being different than I last knew.....not sure if the code on TC is newer or older than the info I have....

This info is from last night (4-11). I was novice BH, 1110 Carbineer:

  • Scatter shot has no apparant use over legshot. Same action cost, same speed, crappier damage. Need to test ismore though.

  • Crippling Shot is awesome. It has a high change to apply -Snare- (forces your target to walk, and it works in PvP. Mwahaha) and has a decent damage multiplier.

  • Legshot: attack of choice so far. Highest damage multiplier I have so far, stacks well with ranged shot.

  • Charge Shot: same animation as always, but is now effective while prone and/or kneeling. Very cool. Unfortunately, KD does not always work very well; both creatures and NPCs tend to bouce back up without losing a combat round, sometimes quick enough that I don't get a shot off while they're down.

  • Begining to see carbicide again. I picked up novice BH and the first box of assault tactics last night, and with the speed increase I was finally able to make significant dents in my action pool. This should be by design, but.... I'm keeping myeye out....

I'm really really itching to get more specials so I can play around with cooldown groups and combos.

Well the idea is NO MORE SPAMMING SPECIALS....so all profs had better see this or the entire CU was a waste of time. So the real issue here is verifying that ALL PROFS have this effect at approximately the same level....not that we are seeing correlations from LIVE to the CU right now.

I hate seeing references like this to the old system....but the comparisons are inevitable. Everybody needs to remember there should be no profession out there spamming specials at the higher levels....of course at Marksman or Brawler level spamming those weak Specials is the norm.

Oh I agree that spamming specials should not be possible. When I was 0110 carbineer I could put leg shot on auto attack and spam it all day long, even heal myself and others without even looking at my action pool. Since I was at such a low level, I'm not sure if I could consider that a problem.

When I picked up novice BH and the assault tree I saw a very noticible increase in speed, and subsequently a very noticible drain on my action pool. Again, this should be by design. I had to keep an eye on my action bar and queue up ranged shot a few times so I wouldn't burn myself out.It was awesome; combatfelt a lot more engaging.

I guess carbicide is a bad choice of words, but I used it because I'm lazy and it allowed me to convey an idea most everyone is familiar with in one word

I just didn't want anybody else getting the wrong idea from your post....but I already knew your position on spamming specials, just have to look out for everybody else

Well I chew threw action like no other, I group with the same 6 or 7 people each day and we go hunting right now novice BH/3322 carb. With assault armor i end up being tank as i have the highest damage output. I even out pace the doc for action loss and she is normally chainhealing. Doesnt seem to be to be a game breaker for me i still love carbineer.

*note* this is with Dxr6 and i am shooting 30m farther then the next person and have the mob down to about 3/4 before it gets within range of the pistoleers.

One thing that must be done to make an accurate assessment of the HAM costs from prof to prof.....the others you compare to MUST be of very similar level, using similar level attacks, and using similar level weapons. If this isn't the case then an accurate comparison can not be drawn because lower/higher level toons/attacks will have different HAM costs by design.

But I will say this is one of my key concerns to make sure HAM costs are equal across profs at equal level/attack/weapon/etc.

When I first got Scattershot,I noticed the damage was slightly less than Legshot so I stuck with Legshot. I figured when I got Improved Scattershotthat the damage would be around the same or higher than Legshot, but I was wrong, I did not notice any difference in damage. I do love the DXR6 alot better than the EE3.

I KD'd a NS Stalker last night with Charge Shot! Woot.

Of course, the only MOBs that have been balanced in the new system are on Corellia, Tatooine, Naboo, Talus, and Rori, so this test was definitely a little premature... I hope they don't reapply the crazy state resists current high end MOBs on live have...

Don't no if anyone has noticed but we have just lost all our specials from the novice and master boxes so no more Leg Shoot, I do hope this is a bug and not by design, but just in case I have reported it as a bug on the testing forum.
