Thread: Is Novice Carbineer worth giving up to get Confusion Shot and CH skills?

Since I'm not a power gamer, it's taken me four months, but I've finally built my character just about like I want him:


Wookiee, BH 0/3/0/4, CH 3/3/0/3, Novice Carbineer/Medic


I also have plenty of money.


I'm not giving up Novice Medic. There's nobody in the Med Centers anymore, lol. I also have a wookiee wrap and sage hood that together gives me +32 injury and wound treatments. Gonna keep that!


Only thing left to decide is whether I want to give up Novice Carbineer and the Action Shot 2 and Full Auto Single 2 that it comes with.


If I do give it up, I could then get BH Carbine 4 (Confusion Shot) and BH Pistol 1 (Bleeding Shot).


Or, I could get BH Carbine 4 and CH Taming 4 (ability to call Rancors) and CH Management 4 (ability to transfer pets and store 2 more pets.) I could then tame and sell pets with transfer command. I also have wookiee shoulder pads with +13 Taming Wild/Vicious Creatures Skill Mod built in. Pretty nice!


The latter option is what I'm leaning towards, but I'd like to ask my fellow BHs. CHs and Carbineers if that is worth giving up Full Auto Single 2 and Action Shot 2. Those two specials seem to be good, but maybe Fire Knockdown and Confusion Shot will make up for it.


Once I complete this character, I will start doing all the quests, theme parks, Jabba stuff, etc., that I have not done yet. I've played solo and PvE almost these entire 4 months, so I may starting grouping more, join a guild and I may even get into the GCW, perhaps even a little PvP.Unlike most players, I'm actually looking forward to life after max-out!


Anyway, I'd like some advice from those who've trod this path before me. Thanks in advance!

I think I've boiled this down to one basic question:


What's better - Novice Carbineer or being able to use Confusion Shotand Rancors?


What say you?

if you ask me, BH/carbineer really needs crippleshot. if you aren't going to get carbine marksmanship up to lvl 3, then i say don't bother.

OK, thanks to the great advice I got on this post and others, I've made my decision:


I'm giving up Novice Carbineer and replacing it with:


BH Carbine 4, CH Train 4 and CH Management 4.


Reasons:


1. It looks like Fire Knockdown and Confusion Shot together are more powerful than Full Auto Single 2 and Action Shot 2 together.


2. When I am at CH 3/4/0/4, I will be able to use rancors or gurrecks, etc., because of the +13 Wild/Vicious wookiee shoulder pads I have bought.


So these additions will make me more powerful (and more fun, lol) than keeping Novice Carbineer and staying where I am now with my character.
