At what point do we start moving from sliced mass-produced weapons to lootmade weapons? And other than imperial stock, are there other loot items that bridge the gap between a weapon that's 20k and a 300+k krayt weapon? What I want to know is basically how to get better carbines. I think i'm at the point where browsing vendors and piling through their mass-produced stuff won't do me much good, and i need to go find/order custom weapons. How would i go about getting a krayt carb or gathering the components for a weaponsmith?(On a general note, this forum could use a weapon guide that outlines the basic options and then how to move on toward better weapons. The pvp elite thread was very helpful in that regard.)

Currently I'm carrying:

Ordinary Laser Carb Sliced for speed (Morbus's for those on Tarq); 61 dps (roughly, this isn't my gaming comp) - my bread and butter gun. I don't do much pvp so this is also my main pvp gun.

Krayt scoped DH17 at 80 dps or so that I just bought with low HAM Costs. Nice for unarmored targets when i'm unbuffed.

EE3 with dps of 60 or so for heat.

Nym's sliced for speed for the acid damage, 54 dps i think. Though since it's got lower dps than the ee3, i don't use it unless a creature is both heat and energy resistant.

What's your evaluation of these weapons? With the krayt, i can solo quenkars without killing myself on specials, but against tougher creatures, my laser doesn't seem to cut it. Which gun would i stand to gain the most by upgrading and what would my options be? I just got the laser and the dh17, and they're a fair improvement over what i used to have, though I'd like to do much better with the laser. Any better options without springing for a krayt? How much do krayt lasers go for? I think this ee3 is pretty nice, since ppl have been complaining about ee3's, and it turns out it's been a better gun than anything i have but the first two. Nym's, of course, are all the same pre-slice. I've read some posts by ppl enamored with their DXR6, but i've only managed to find crap ones that are worse than my nym. What's a good dps for a dxr6?

A carbineer friend of mine's been just asking other carbineers he runs into if they have weapons they'd like to sell. Might go that route if i can't locate any krayt tissues worth a damn. Any carbineers on tarq got an old weapon they'd be interested in selling me? :-)

When playing PvE I would say, in my book, the only gun worth using is the Laser Carbine, mostly cause of the Medium AP on that one.

I myself is using a lootmade (Nyms powerhandlers enchaners +20 damage) Laser carbine with adv. stock for extra damage. This piece is way better than on ordinary Laser Carbine. its a bit slower, mine has a 22% speed slice and lands on 3.0 in speed.

The Elite isn't as powerul I think cause of the Light AP.

The medium AP on the Laser is really nice for punching through mobs in PvE. I wouldn't really ever consider using the Elite as it's main purpose is a high minimum to help counter Ranged Damage Mitigation in PvP. You may also want to consider the Enhanced E11 for PvE, a little bit less chaotic on the damage since it has a tighter spread, and the health bleed is definitely useful in PvE

When listing carbines alot of people forget about the looted schematic for the Enhanced E11 Carbine. If im not mistaken you can get this from the Emperors Retreat (Imperial Themepark) on Naboo. Its medium range and Massive Bleed Damage for 9000 uses make it my #1 choice for PVP. Ive taken TK's out with it on numerous occasions.. as long as im running circles around them avoiding a knockdown. Its also what i pull out when im in PVE trouble.. sticking a couple bleeds on a rancor helps out a bit

Doh, forgot to get my enhanced e11 sliced, no wonder it sucks.

So are the nym's power enhancers loot items from nym's pirates? Will I not be able to do nym's quests afterwards?

Took down the stats for all my weapons and computed this table(well, minus 2 weapons. I remember the dps for the krayt but not its stats). The last table is damage against various ap targets. Ap3 should be easy, just divide the last column by two. It's only in ap0-2 that things are different for some weapons.

Calculations I used: Dps is (min+max)/2*speed
ap bonus is 1.25 for each level higher and .5 lower. Please correct me if this is wrong.
The first 5 are all energy, does anyone know what the calculation for the bleed of the e11 is? or for damage mitigation?

Both lasers started as scoped and stocked laser carbs from morbus on tarq, 4.2 spd, 83/315. 1 had a 25% speed slice, 2 had a 28% damage slice. Elite was sliced for 30-35% speed, i don't remember. I don't know the stats on the slices on the others since i didn't get them sliced, but they are all sliced weapons. The krayt dh17 has a scope, don't know any other specifics. Everthing else is stock, no loot components (as far as I can tell), so i think it's a fair representation of the good stock weapons you can get. The last two are a separate line as they
deal a different damage type.

name ap spd min/max dps ap0 ap1 ap2
laser1 ap2 3.3 83/315 60.03 94.2 75.37 60.03
laser2 ap2 4.2 105/400 60.12 93.93 75.14 60.12
elite ap1 2.4 96/165 54.37 67.96 54.37 27.19
kraytdh17 ap0 2.2 ~80/260 84 84 42 21
dh17snub ap0 3.5 145/247 56 56 28 14
e11(enhanced) ap1 1.9 70/147 57.10 71.38 57.10 28.55
ee3 ap0 2.2 81/184 60.22 60.22 30.11 15.05
nym ap1 3.3 103/217 48.48 60.6 48.48 24.24

So the winner in raw damage everywhere, and especially at the higher armor resists, is the laser carb.

Two conclusions: speed is better than damage slice (provided you don't hit the cap). This was a point made in the speed vs damage thread; you can see it here. Second of all, armor rating MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Despite its appearance of a **edit**ty dps, the laser carb gets a 56% bonus on unarmored targets, making it superior to even the krayt'd dh17 (damn, i got gypped for 50k - At least it has low ham costs). I'll still use it for close up, but damn, not the killer i expected.

As for energy vs heat/acid, i guess there's no much reason to switch weapons except for vulnerabilites. It takes like a 35% difference in resists on an unarmored target to justify switching to a weaker weapon. Vulnerabilities probably do justify it, as there's a 25% difference at ap1 and they're even at ap2, so any difference in resist would be worth a weapon switch.

I'd encourage you all to work out this table for at least your best weapons so you don't go off buying a 50k gun that can't outshoot a non-loot laser carb. Off to find me some nym's power handles, then.

Oh yeah, the elite stinks. It needs to be at least ap2.

Sorry about the table, not being able to post html sucks ass. Can anyone help?

I like my new krayt enhanced e11! Soooooo much better than my krayt elite carbine!

I think mine's like 1.8 spd 140-390ish (dont remember exactly)with pup. The bleed doesn't hurt with the damage either. Even with 1.8 speed I'll need nearly +20 in speed attachments to get cap on crippling shot soooo I got a ways to go.

Good news is it only uses 1 krayt tissue so its relatively cheap (heckI got 5 made hehe).
