Thread: We just can't cut it...even after Publish 7, I am regrinding to Rifleman

The whole combat revamp and rebalance has either been rethought, pushed back, or cancelled. Very dissapointing news. By the time the thing occurs, I'll be Rifleman for a long while...read this...

i hate to say it...but ive already already started down the path to the darkside. i gave up master carbineer last night and used capped stored up combat xp to go rifleman 0003. im not giving up carbines completely, im keeping bh x4xx for now. ill see if i can incorporate some dizzy/kd's in the mix.

I was a master sharpshooter for a long while, still have some sweet guns in the locker for when I return to it. But, I now have some great carbines and do well as a carboneer, will master soon. When I do master I will finish off the rest of my new template and hold there for a while. I feel that I will do very well with this in pvp.


Then, when it groes old I will then probably master swordsman, then give pistoleer a whirl. After pistoleer probably do fencer and then back to Rifleman, assuming that I can't figure out a way to get the enjoyment that I got at riflmen out of the other ranged things.

It might...but you probably have at least a month worth of killing lots and lots of ppl...go for it...



Only reason why I'm still a carbineer is I been one since the beginning and I have a certain attachment to it...

lol, i did the same, dropped carbs to get back on the rifle. I enjoy the tactical aspects of the profession, its great for support, untill u go solo. OUCH!


If they fixed the ham costs at the same time as they fixed the specials, i would probable still be a carbineer. When they nerf rifle and fix ham costs i will be back. (or a pistoleer again if they duel weild)

I really only have issues with speed, specially if you tasted Bounty Hunter 0300 then wow... it's crazy how effective it is. I will keep praying as a carbineer and heck, I just need to find 20 more attachement skills for speed and i'm good to go.

I dropped Carbineer for rifles a few weeks ago. You should know that they are making mind damage easier to heal. Without mind damage, Rifleman will be in the same spot as every ranged class. I suggest you pick up an elite melee other than Pikeman, and then Master Brawler. Rifleman was the only ranged class that couldcompete with melee classes in PvP. That was due to mind damage. With Master Brawler, you will never be kited (20 m knockdown, warcry, and intimidate) and you will almost never get hit (center of being).

They will be weaker but not equal. A T-21 or Jawa Ion rifle will still hit any of the 3 HAMbars harder than any Carbine or Pistol can.

I have to agree. I continue to watch in disgust as TK and rifemen (or people who are both!) continue to wade through all levels of badies while i get hacked up in seconds as a master carbineer. I got a friend who did a 6k strafe shot on three beasties.....that is rediculous! I refused to engage in PVP becauses of the inadequacies, now it have decided to drop combat in general. I refuse to grind to professions that i dont want just because they are UBBER powerful.


The final straw for me was this post regarding KD and posture changes with developer responses to concerns from this community:


They strongly disagree and indicate that further discussion is not needed. They believe that KD and posture changes that were not timed resulted in Carbineers being able to solo things that players should not be able to solo. The timers are needed to balance combat. However, they do acknowledge that adding the timers removed the class distinction of crowd control Carbineers once had. Over the next combat publishes, the Developers want to give Carbineers distinction again. In following up that statement, Thunderheart has asked me to engage the Carbineer community by asking for suggestions on how to make Carbineers distinctive again. I will be doing just this in a soon to follow thread. Further, Thunderheart has indicated he will be visiting our forums soon so that he can get first hand knowledge of our issues. While this provides no promise of direction action, I firmly believe that discussion of these issues with the Developers will ultimately result in our class becoming distinctive, fun and desired in groups.


I like the concept of carbineer. I dont mind NOT being a superman. However, i have just grown tired of watching other classes wade through monsters like butter BYTHEMSELVES while i can barely take out a level 20 nest unbuffed.


The combat system in this game is GAY. I have no faith the SONY will ever fix it because this crap has gone on from day one. My suggestion is that you drop carbineer and pick up TK or rilfe (or both!). Or if your like me and sick of being railroaded into something you dont want, drop combatcompletely. Carbineer is just too useless to be of any use. I am tired of playing with broken toys.

as far as nerfs and the supposed combat balance, everything is speculation right now. if they do introduce a speed cap it will hurt carbineer as well as rifleman. but its looking like that wont be for a long time.
