Thread: Goodbye my Carbineer Friends...

I've been a Carbineer for most of my SWG Career...even during the "hologrind," I kept it as a Master CM, Master Pistoleer, and Master Commando....eventually evolving into my favorite MCarbineer/BH Carbine Template -- the end came when the Combat Revamp was "delayed," as stated by JustG and TH.
I love Carbines, they are my favorite class in this game...
...but on Eclipse they simply can't compete anymore. Rifleman, Combat Medics, Heavy Swordsman, TKA, BH/Pistoleers dominate the battle scenes...Stun Weapons Dominate PvP...Carbineers can annoy...but when that Mind Poison Hits (bypassing stun defense armor and PSG) and then a single Jawa Blast kills me, while I get /snipershot from 65M...
I don't even believe Rifleman or CM are overpowered...they just actually work. I know you might say, "Well Carbineers are designed to be crowd control..." But that's wrong, our main weapon is AP2, our shots are relatively high damage shots, we get bonuses to firing on the move (ie: assault profession) -- we're the same as every other combat class, one without an actual definition.
I've worked hard to help the Carbineer community, we've suffered through HAM costs, being considered an "unimportant profession," and other various set backs...and a patch finally made some of our specials work as they were designed to...and then we all realized, the game has greater problems than Carbine specials.
It has become tough to have fun...so I felt a change was needed for myself.
I'm proud to have helped some of you out through the months...proud to been able to help Nova for the MCarbineer/BH Carbines segment for the FAQ...and I'll miss ya'll...but I'll still be lurking. Waiting for the day when I can return to my first combat profession ever...
...until then, I need to have fun to justify spending monthly dollars to play this game, and so...I become a TKA/Gunfighter...just like the Agents from the Matrix. 
You're the Best Forum, the Best Profession, with the best people and the best Correspondent --these months have been great, and one day I'll come back -- my time spent here was never a waste, just in the end...I let frustration beat me.

If it is not too late...
Have you considered a Carbineer with TKA/Fencer/Swordsman ? There has been some discussion on the mixed defensive templates recently and I think there is merit to them. I intend to try one out very soon.
I honestly don't see Pistoleer helping you that much because Pistoleer and Carbineer are currently sharing the same problems in PvP.

Master Carb + Master Sword + 4-0-0-0 Fencer (melee/ranged defense) + 2-0-3-0 Medic (/firstaid & strong heal c's)

I agree. I see the light! I loved the concept of carbeineer, but after months and months I have just had enough. I hate to see the profession die, but in fact its been dead for a long time. There is NO fix coming. There is NO point in being a carbineer if you intend to fight anything over level 10. Funny thing is I just do combat parttime; I am not some faction combat hack.
I feel like I am wasting one third of my skill points with master carbineer. I really hate to do this but I start selling back the skills tonight.
Hope the rest of you dont take as long as I did to see the light.

Part of the end came when I was working on finishing my new Master Heavy Swords/Master Carbineer template...
...and the famous "SOE eats skill blocks for dinner bug" happened and chomped down on 3/4s of my Swordsman skills. I was thining of doing TKA/Carbineer...but TKA/Pistols gives me slightly more defenses, and part of it is I am going for a more..."stealthy/sleek" approach.
You guys were all the best, and I'd love to somehow lurk around helping...
But it got to the point where people would say, "Griff! Come attack this Imperial base with us." I'd show up, and it'd be 20 rifleman vs 20 rifleman...
I've sold some of my Carbineer stuff, but am keeping my best guns, but none of my skill tapes/plates simply because we have no idea what the Combat Revamp will do to speed and such.
I really have a *need* to be different...and Carbineer was my first combat choice when everyone was a Pistoleer early on...now Eclipse rifleman are so rampant, it's called, "The class you be if you're scared to die." Pistols helps TKA with defenses, and since I'm probably gonna do the Dirty Fighting Line of Smuggler.
But I remember my months of Carbines more than anything else, and will return. Maybe I'll get out there, realize..."I miss my Carbine..." and grind it back in a couple weeks.
