Thread: Legshot 3 or Full Auto Area 1? Your opinion is requested.

Ok assume publish 8 is here and legshot3 truly is AOE/Cone.

If I had one skill to take in carbineer which would be better for me?

I like the extra accuracy that comes from legshot 3 (and the targeted attack) however the multiple state effects of full auto area 1 are tempting as well.

Thanks.

Right when I became correspondant I dropped all my carbine skills and releveled the class to get a fresh leveling perspective. The one thing that stuck with my is how much I missed and even when I hit, the target would dodge/counterattack/block. It appears that dodge/counterattack/block are linked to accuracy. Basically, I found carbineer to be extremely frustrating until I hit the third box of accuracy. Thus, I would try to gain every last once of accuracy possible and go for legshot3 even if you rarely use it. However, once it is fixed, I think it will be a good source of stun.

Thanks nova. I'm going BH and wanted one skill from carbineer to completely flesh out my personal ideal template. If I decide to spare more I think I may do some more accuracy since the extra knockdowns are redundant (but essentially "free" since it's built off of combat xp which BH no longer requries past novice)

Actually that changes my answer. I was looking at it from a novice carbineer with 5 points to spent and nothing in BH. Since you have BH speed and accuracy, you might want fullautoarea1. The damage on it is pretty low but it will give you access to a cone special which bounty does not have.

However, if you scrape up more points, I would probably be inclined to go for crippleshot. That is if your goal is PvP. If you are more interested in PvE, I'd go for either fullautoarea2 or burst2.

Lots of what ifs...

Dammit...the mere mention of BH/carbineer gets my wanting to go back...

That's a fact. A simplified formula is as follows:

ChanceToHit% = 66 + (Accuracy - Defense) / 2

Insert either ranged/melee or secondary (dodge/ct/block) instead of defense. Ranged/melee is counted first, as a first pass, secondary defenses follow.

This shows how important your accuracy is since you have to hit twice in order to hit. Thanks for that info!

That's not entirely accurate... The accuracy on the weapon is VERY important. As a carbineer/BH, I missed my shots in PvP after the patch just like before, I honestly didn't notice any difference (talking about def stacked templates). I recently got a new gun with +81 accuracy at ideal range and things changed radically.

Btw, having the BH carbine line (up to the 3rd box) but with skill tapes I have close to 200 accuracy (can't remember the exact figure) so by that formula, 66 + (200-125) / 2 =~ 66+ 37 which means I basically shouldn't miss ...

Welcome. The full formula (including posture and range modifiers) can be found in the Pistoleer forums.

That's a simplified formula. You should [almost] never miss (I'm sure there's a cap on that) if your opponent is standing and so are you. Plus, it doesn't count in range mods of your weapon.

Thank you all for your information and suggestions!

I'll probably do full auto area 1 because it'll give me a rangedAOE attack to compliment the short range AOE attacks of the LLC (and it'll basically be "free" sincea BH does not require combat xp past novice).

Since as a BH I'll specialize in single targets I'm not too interested in getting FAA2 (although it would be nice) but if I decide to change my template and free up points this MAY be what I do.

Thank you all again!
