It's not ALL ABOUT DAMAGE for gods sake!!! It really doesn't matter how much damage you do to someone who can't stand up ya know?

I realise that was a bit uncalled for, especialy for someone who is a n00b only asking for infomation. OK let me lay it straight.

If you wantmaximum damage output get rifleman

If you want high defenses (i.e. Dodge and ranged/melee defense) get pistoleer

if you want to stack status effects be a carbineer.

There you go matey.

Hmmm, might i ask why not?

How about i this ... can you give me an answer that doesn't involove the words, Rifleman, Jawa Ion Rifle, Stun or TKA?

Carbines are just fine the only issue i have is our speed is a little on the slender side, and our choice of weapons could be better. At the moment my arsenal is just fine, and speed tapes give me the boost i need to stay competitive. As far as damage output is concerned they are not the highest and are probably on the lower end of that spectrum. Carbines are more geared towards applying states, posture changes, and lots of AoE skills, they area support class in PvP IMO. If you are looking for a class solely to dish out damage, then i would not suggest carbines.

You might want to review the posts againt to see what was actually said. But while we're at it, any other words I cant use? Might as well get a list of them now....

Actually as far as i am concerned, speed is fine. And choice of weapons is pretty good. Not sure what else your looking for there.

Bully for you

Agreed. Its a support role. Thats actually one of the reasons I chose it. Too bad its more of a lame support. For example, why would I even bother to change the posture of something that my rifleman friend can take out with two mind shots? I could provide more support to him with my medic skills...but wait he never gets damage....its just me getting hit by HAM costs....

Certainly I agree with that, butIMO it goes beyond that.....

How can either of you say good or bad when we don't know how all the "fixes" of all the professions will affect the SWG Universe.....

Lets pause, take a deep breath, and enjoy Carbineer for what it is: in the hands of a player using his MIND, it can be quite fun. BUT Carbineer does not fit the playing style of the majority of players, that is a cold, hard fact.....

"Fixs".....ahhahahahahahahahahaha.....ahahahahhahahahahah. More like new bugs. If your watch close you will notice each "fix" that has been done in this game either blows up or unbalances.

I suppose that "mind" reference was meant to be an insult. Sigh. Too bad.

I think people who are interested in combat need to know about the problems this game has. The class as its described in the marketing information is EXACTLY what I wanted to play. It has not turned out that way, unfortunately. Sorry if my opinion offends you and a few others, but I stand by it....as a cold hard fact.

But hey, folks. Dont take my word for it. Ask around. Or try it for yourself.

I suppose that "mind" reference was meant to be an insult. Sigh. Too bad. Absolutely NOT.....just making a point for a noob or anybody.....but if you should take it as such well....then....

Everybody has his own opinion but THE FACTS are things are changing....please actually THINK (yes that is the insult) about what I said. I did NOT say Carbineer was good or bad so stop being so defensive when somebody else voices an opinion. My point is that all of these opinions are not based on much fact since things are changing, BUT Carbineer can be very rewarding depending on you playing style. BTW, I have done a good part of Pistoleer, all of Smuggler, all of Commando and will soon be going to Melee professions so I do have a clue

But hey, folks. Dont take my word for it. Ask around. Or try it for yourself.

Let me recap, each player has different playing styles and different expectations for combat in SWG. Personally I enjoy it for PvE paired with MCH. And PvP with the latest fixes is much more fun too. Actually I agree with both sides of the good/bad arguement here as it is different for every person. It takes more work than the other professions to be good at PvE and PvP, doneeither with skill points or credits, but it can be done.

BTW, what marketing info were you reading, this is a MMORPG that gets major publishes every 4-6 weeks. Add on top of that 4 years of development and those marketing type folks pushing this out while still in beta......well most of us laugh at the marketing HYPE of the past (and currently going on with WoW I might add)
