So how is it?
i'm starting to work on the carbineer profession. my template will probebly be master carbineer/bh 4/4/0/0/some of medic and novice brawler.
Iwon't just be using itto hunt jedi though, i like to pvp alot as SF but as a swordsmen i tend to get the tar beaten out of me by someones foot, or a stick every time i give it a shot. i'm an experienced pvper from my stacker days but i would like advice from the seasoned ranged pvpers.

well one simple tactic is, if you don't have to let someone hit you, don't. The (huge) majority of PvPers now are melee. Also, getting a few nice dots can help in long fights. The best thing about carbineer is the states/kd's. We have the best knockdowns and dizzies. hope this helps

Check out the PvP guide in the FAQ
Carbineer can be made to work rather well in PvP, and it's in fact devastating when used properly. But there are certain pitfalls which make it harder than say Rifleman or something like TK/Fencer.

The guide in the FAQ is very good. In my own humble experience the best way to PvP is to follow these points:
1) Choose the appropriate weapon. Have your best guns hot-keyed ready for action. Laser Carbine is good against melee and DXR6 or a good Elite good against Ranged fighters to help against their Ranged Mitigation.
2) Choose good food. Unless your heavily defence stacked or stocked up on AAs or CAs eat anything to keep you on your feet and keep your mind right up to counter HAM costs and the inevitable targetting of your mind pool. I favour Thakatillo + Steak + 2 shots of Brandy on top of good buffs.
3) Kite kite kite. The second you have a target, start moving (against melee players). If you see them speed up suddenly hit your burst run to counter them. Against ranged targets, keep your optimum distance to maintain accuracy and decrease theirs. Move out against pistoleers, move in against riflemen.
4) Do your damndest to keep states on them and knockdowns/posture change.
Just a few points that I follow for my PvP. There are others far more experienced here that can give you great advice such as TA, AdmiralSpy and a few others. As I said before...the FAQ sectionin this forumisoneof the mostcomprehensive around.

IMHO PvP is all about teamwork....
1+1=3
Team up with someone, a speedcapped rifleman works well. Remeber to keep them stated, and use scatter shot a lot (it burns through Synth and protein wafers faster) bleeds are nice with an enhanced E-11 you can bleed both Health and action. I would reconmend going up unarmed 4 to, esp if you don't have lots of money to spend on kd/dizzy food and sea's. If you get dizzy, KD'd unequip your carbine. you take 20% less damage from unarmed attacks, plus you get intimidate and warcry.
Just 2 creds from a Commando/Rifleman that loves teaming up with carbineers...

I would honestly drop medic and get some tkm skills, I have a similar template and having damage mitigation 3/4 on melee and ranged makes you a pretty tuff opponent, and if you have the skillpoints you can get the meditate line to replace the medic portion of your template. Good defences in my oppinion far outweigh anything you get from dabblin in medic.

/agree ^^^
It follows pistoleer, rifleman, tkm, pikeman, fencer, and CM in terms of PvP-useabililty, I'd say.
