Thread: What do you think of this template?

perhaps I'm not far enough along in rifleman to see it, but so far I just don't see how you can use this profession unbuffed, without a tank, unless using conceal shot, which is very slow. i've been using my camo kits, 50m+ out, headshot3, and i get off about 4-5 shots before aggro. (followed by incap.) perhaps more insight from other rifleman rangers can tell me if im doing something wrong. about the choice of tank. droids are nice, but being a ranger i of course just like critters. and a 10k light armor 60% kin tank is very nice, and seeing as how i could have like 10 of them, i wouldn't burn through pet stims too fast either. any other insights would be appreciated.

I can't really tell ya what you're doing wrong -- that's exactly what I do, and I'm extremely successful at it. I can tell you, however, that after BE clothes + rebel signetring + spec ops backpack my camo is at about +130 (I think).
But if you get argoed, use your traps.
I have a couple of macros set up where I can send in my tank droid and launch a snare and/or roottrap. If the droiddoesn't take the agro off me, good luck trying to catch me.
That droid, btw, has tanked entirelairs of Engraded Rancors and survived long enough for my strafeshot2s to kill everything (about 10 seconds, lol), so he's definitely worth it. What are you hunting that's smelling you in 3-4 shots?
But yes, you can use this profession withouta tank. I've taken out Ancient Bulls without the droid (I was out of batteries, lol). I could rely on those snare/root traps entirely, but when I got agroed it'd just mean I'd have to run a littlefurther to getwhole lairoff me. I pull the droid out just incase, but I can usually take out entire Rancor lairs without getting agroed, and if they indeed are stupid enough to come after me, they'll usually die before they even get close. I send in the droid, but half the time his target is dead before he gets in range. Another fun thing to do is to pull, run about 100m away, then wait for thebleed to setin andtrap, send in droid, and kite withheadshot3s. You can kill pretty much any creature that your traps will stick to using that.
By the way, speed capped rifleman have the highest damage output in the game. You could EASILY cap your xp twice in a buff session (if you're doing the whole FS thing, that is). ![]()
So my advice: pick CH or pick Ranger, but you have to master rifles. It just isn't a friendly "dabbler" profession. Ranger is, IMO, a way better choice, but CH has a lot of benifits on its own right and can be a lot of fun too. It really comes down to what you want more of: tanking power (CH with BE pets) or concealment and other clevertools (Ranger with camokits, droids, traps, etc.). You'll have to use a lot more tactics with Ranger (hint: use traps!), but I promise that you'll be able to kill just as well.
Good luck.

Master Rifleman is a whole new profession. You can shoot most specials at close to one shot per second. It makes things a lot faster. Also, you might want to consider using the special /concealshot (x/1/x/x Rifleman). It lets you shoot without agroing the creature (i.e. you can shoot 10000 times and still not get agroed). It isn't perfect (you have to be farther than 40m away, you can cause a 1 point bleed that will bring agro on you, ....) but it will let you fight just about anything at a low level in rifleman. As you go up in Rifleman, it becomes less necessary. At Master Rifleman, there is very little that can run to you and hit you before you can kill it.

With this template of combined force intimidate and FA you should be able to take quite a bit of hits. Novice defender doesn't give a whole lot but couldn't think of anywhere else to put the extra skill pointsyou got the advantage of master lightsabers for being able to deal out awesome damage, and healing 4004 for healing states, dots, and dmg. Let's hear your opinion
Okay,
Force intimidate is by and large not as efficent as the simple Novice brawler intimidate.
MLS, leaving behind my dicussions of pros and cons, is not bad choice.
You nailed the need on healing, with the other option of 3004/4004
Force armor sucks you dry in force pool. May want to readdress that.
You also have master reflexses, was wondering why? you have commited to 7 FS lines instead of 6.
Not sure if you want it, but if you shave out of novice defnder, the extra FS line, and to 3004, you hav ethe option of FR1 at 2404. You could also change things with force armor, if you chose.
I love defender, but if you are just getting the novice box, may want to see what else you could get.
