wow kaffis im still trying to soak all that up. thank u for giving me some input and sharing the knowledge. so ur sayingtgts that have no ranged mit is more suited for the laser, whiletgts with ranged mit is better suited for elite or dxr? i understand a few things in your reply but others are still a bit cloudy.

When mitigation first went in I was confused by this too Sodalitus, but it's easy to understand when you remind yourself of the ruling principle here: while straight up the laser looks superior, because of mitigation the whole thing is changed. The simplest way ofexplaining it is pointing out that mitigation makes the minimum damage, not max damage, the prime stat to look at, because it'sunaffected by mitigation. The reason the laser is hurt against mitigation 3 targets is because its minimum is usually in the 50ish range, which makes it easily the lowest of the upper-level carbines. When the laser's high max is chopped down and is matched up with the already low minimum, it's average damage is effectively lowered below that of the elite as Kaffis was pointing out. The stats above bear all this out but I hadn't seen it kind of 'summed up' quite this way so I thought I'd throw this out there for anyone whois still confused like I was for awhile on this.

Eh? Carbineers aren't the only ones to get ranged damage mitigation.

Your opponent might have mitigation, which will affect your damage. Hence the whole elite vs laser debate.
