Thread: New Master Carbineer
Congrats on the Master Carbineer
The part about solo'ing Krayts is EXACTLY the reason why prem pearls aren't dropping.....per the Devs. The simple fact is we are playing a MMORPG, not some solo FPS game..... ![]()
BTW, I was solo'ing GDK and Krayts with Master Carbineer and Master Creature Handler pre-CU ![]()

If we can assign a scape-goat, I would blame the level system for this. The devs created a level system which doesn't really allow us to kill level 398 krayts even in a group and thus requires every high-level mob to be a level which is within reach of level 80, whether it's 1 level 80 or a group of level 80s.
I personally find that the 'pathing' of the Krayts has been dumbed down. After getting my butt handed to me by a level 81 gurk (don't ask
) I figured I'd head to Tat and see if this Krayt solo business was really true.
Ran intoa level 86 Giant Canyon, circled around it as was suggested alternating between Snare and KD.. and it hit me like.. twice? It just kept on going where I *was* 10 seconds ago.. running in circles and well beyond 30m range..
.. it was kinda dumb. It went for my bike too, which was some 200m away, before it turned 180 degrees and charged for me, by which point, I was where my bike was. Krayts were never this stupid or laggy or whatever.. they move too slowly.. don't hit hard enough, and.. well.. something's wrong, heh. So fine, you could solo a Krayt with the right armor/weapons/foods pre-CU, but then things were supposedly harder then. It also took more time back then to take a Giant Canyon Krayt.
Personally, I prefer rare spawns with guaranteed loot instead of common easy spawns with infrequent loot. The former promotes adventurous large-group hunting with rewards while the latter is just farming all over again. Blah!

Negative. I seeseveral things to "blame" in that case:
- snare: A halfway skilled kiter with snare available will beat any melee mob.
- AI: based on how the AI works, kiting is very easy, you can confuse it and have the target almost stationary while you do your kiting.
- lack of ranged attack: imagine the krayt suddenly has a spitting attack like some other beasts. Even at a range of 30 or 40 meters, it would make all kiting a much harder task. Then teach the AI to take the straight route to the target when it runs a circle, instead of following in the tracks, and you have a deadly combo. (Kiting in straight line away will lead to +retreat+ occasionally... and has a high risk to run into another dangerous spawn.)
Though, i also have to say that i like being able to kite and use that tactics, although it's a bit too easy at the moment. Thus my actual suggestion would be instead:
Add high-end content which is ranged. Leave krayts and stuff the way they are, they are a tough challenge for any melee fighter while ranged can easily deal with them. But on some other planet add something which has ranged attack and is of similar difficulty. Be it a new group of force sensitive criminal riflemen, some animal with spit attack or a bunch of rogue droids or a new local warlord, strifing to take over the world. Give them a chance to drop some nice loot, just along the line of krayt tissue, krayt scales, krayt pearls. (Just staying with the droid example, the droid has a new prototype weapon with excellent power handlers, highest quality armour components and the power unit uses a crystal which is even a tiny bit [1 - 3 %] better for lightsabers than a krayt pearl. * )
Suddenly you have new high-end content which poses a challenge and requires a competent team to go for it without requiring massive changes elsewhere.
*: Andif you think this'll be overpowered, just at the same time reduce damage output of light sabers by those 1-3 %, people won't notice right away and in the end you have those weapons just like they are now, only with those power unit crystals instead of pearls inside...
