Carbineer makes the best "mixer" profession imo, just because its specials complement other professions so well. For instance carbineer/rifleman with some pistoleer is great for damage output forcrowd controlin group situations. For the lone PvPer (myself) who often finds himself facing jedi alone it is hard to beat master smuggler/master carbineer for all around survivability, in fact that brings up my point mix carbineer with anything and you get a good mix of crowd control and damage. My personal favorite template is m smuggler/mcarbs/m marksman with rifle 3000 which gives me excelent 1v1 damage output, more reasonable crowd damage output, and really strong crowd control abilities for group or single player vs player. Carbineer is the "midwife" of all ranged professions, you arent born untill you add some to your template

I wasn't a fan of Commando, the AoE damage is like 10%, the DPS on the commando weapons aren't as good as carbines, and I just totally failed to see how Commando is worth a 5 on offense.

Its not a god template, that's for certain, I respec'd to it tonight. What its incredibly effective for is application of crowd control effects at close and middle ranges. With a Lightning Cannon, I could pretty much put a group on its ass at 40 meters. Flamethrowers had the edge of modestly improved damage, with much shorter ranges.

Really, I think the Devs reversed Carbineer and Commando. Carbineer has some sweet combat capability, and Commandos have the potential to take other profession's state effects and apply them to a crowd.
