Thread: Some PvE Armor Testing
So if anybody knows where I can find some critters with Medium or Heavy armor -- preferably non-BAF critters -- that would be much appreciated.

Well, if you ever asked yourself "Why do I have to learn all this stupid algebra?" in high school, now you know: Doping out the combat mechanics for MMORPGs.
Maybe you could explain this one for me. Check your floaty damage and subtract it from what the mobs HAM bar says. You have to do ballpark figures, as all the math is in your head. But for some reason, the numbers just dont add (ok, subtract) correctly.
For example. If I shoot a mob with 5k HAM for 2000 floaty damage, only 1800 will be taken off his HAM bar. I dont get it.

You have also to consider something else : when the critter have a vulnerability of more than 0 (I think some Fliers are like thise...I already saw some mobs that are 30% vulnerable to something but can't remember wich and where).

All weapons attack seem to have a 'spread'. You hit one pool, which takes some portion of the damage (80% I think) while the other pools take 10% of the damage each. If you notice, the color of the number that floats up is actually proportionally shaded based on the damage done and which pools (a pure mind damage is blue, mind/health in even proportions is purple, etc). It also seems to be done by the client, which is why sometimes you see abnormally large floating numbers if you have a high rate of fire (it combines multiple hits, which the actually client interprets as one difference').
That makes alot of sense Noulles. I hadnt thought of that. I wish I could test it but my poor mind (heck, I dont even think I could move the mouse that fast) isnt gonna be able to pound numbers that fast. But this seems reasonable enough.

Try Endor.
All of the Arachne's (except the hatchlings) have medium armor.
Mantigrue Screechers have Heavy armor, and 20% resists to everything but electricity. However, for these I would bring along someone/something to hold it at bay, as they have a disease attack that's NASTY.
