Thread: carbineer specials emphasize aoe attacks, but aoe attacks are borked: help!

It takes me at most 45 seconds to take down 8 ER's Of course that is after I wait about 15 seconds or so to get the full spawn out So lets just call it one full minute....

BTW Yes it is true, I've tested it myself, poison only ticks once every TEN seconds!

I'm a hardCore PvPer and AOE works fine, they also stick fine... I would actually lower the other combat classes and use carbineer stick standards for most professions except BH dizzy...


Our dizzy sticks for maybe 20 seconds... TKM dizzy can stick for 60 second at times...

Droids are better, but expensive to keep in good repair.


I don't mind the running battles. I keep an array of carbines now, and I check my targets for what they are most vulnerable against before opening up. It usually shaves 5 seconds off the time to kill by paying a little extra attention so I can drop them a bit faster once they charge.







Pets do tend to run around a bit, so I have them attack the lair.....works perfectly every time


And the sudden bolt is just lag.....

Don't be too sure about that kill rate, TA. I've been smacked with 1500+ damage per tick Mind sludge, courtesy of Mr. Acklay.

im certainly not just standing there letting them pile up on me, yet since i have been fighting mainly melee mobs i run into the situation i described where part of the mob is affected and the rest is not, dividing the mobs into different cone ranges. in order to avoid having at least some of the mob pile up on me i am forced to run around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to keep within "cone" range on these targets. i realize that we have +30 accuracy while moving at master, yet all i see when i am running around is the -50 by their heads. this only further decreases the effectiveness of the posture changes.


that said, after starting this thread i played for a while paying considerable emphasis on finding the 'cone'. im having an easier time of it now, but it still seems that as this is our specialty, we should have a little less difficulty in getting them to stick on an aoe level.

As much as I like the carbineers 'cone'....I love the pikeman 'circle'! Pikeman is like the melee carbineer, doing massive area damage to not only a cone, but a sphere! Not saying I could do more dps with my pikes than with my carbines, but I dont need tanks with my pike! And I get all the same state benefits (ie. group kd, stun, dizzy). I love pikeman/carbineer

A guy in my PA is actually named Acklay



But anyways, you are talking about something totally different......we are talking about a PLAYER doing damage in PvE.....not the damage we receive in PvE

That is why I suggested before that the Carbineer Specials be called Cone Effect instead of Area of Effect.....because there is a big difference

I've been hit bya mister Ackley power hammer for 1500, didn't feel good.



Anyways, my biggest gripe about the AoEs is that we can't use them in most of the big dungeons for fear of agroing mass baddies.
