Thread: PvP Training...where to begin?
Fighting as a Carbineer alone is NOT a sure fired loser.
One, you must be buffed. Doc buffs and Dancer buffs at least. Use Vercupti and muon gold to equalize your mind buffs and keep your other stats high.
Keep your liquid capacity free for Blue Milk and be at least a Novice Medic or a Novice with as much First Aid as you can.
Use your fastest baseline damage attack to keep your attacks as close to the speed cap as you can. Use Stims liberally and keep that blue milk ready for mind healing.
The FIRST thing you do in an engagement is hit the Burstrun. You absolutely, positively must maintain as much distance between you and your attacker as you can. Know your PvP weapon's optimum rangeby heartand do your damnedest to stay at that distance.
If you invest in SEAs, go for Speed and Accuracy while Moving. Carbineers live and die by the ability to put shots on the targetwhile staying 100% mobile. The minute you are immobilized, you are dead.
I've personally found ScatterShot2 or FullAutoSingle2 to be invaluable as primary attacks. FAS lays out the states which can be paired to a ChargeShot to put them down when they are Dizzy, or you can muscle it out with a high damage Carbine with ScatterShot2. ScatterShot2 seems to have a better chance of causing Mind Damage, which in any PvP encounter is golden.
Believe it or not, you CAN muscle it without the states, you just have to be prepared to absorb damage and heal it ASAP. The reason I use macros to keep the baseline attacks going is so I can pay attention to my enemy and my situation while I am fighting. Because I fight in a constantly mobile state, its easy as hell to run into a wall and get hung up.
Most importantly, DO NOT PANIC. If you are Dizzy/KD'd, stop your macro and hit the stand button, watch carefully to be sure you don't trigger it after you successfully get up. The FIRST thing you do next is get moving. Hit a Blue Milk, then a stimpack and stay running. Spray a few ChargeShots back behind you to try and put him down or at least make him worry about it when he sees the hand go up.
If you are hit with a state effect, deal with it as best you can. If you are poisoned, hit the CM as hard as you can if they are close enough. Watch what kind of poison you've been hit with and be ready to counter it if you can. If you catch fire, run it out. Fire DOTs aren't as powerful as before and hundreds of wounds aren't as hurtful when you have thousands of HAM.
Finally, if things go south and you are going down, find the most injured enemy on the screen and hit him with the harshest attack you've got, be it CripplingShot, ScatterShot, whatever. If you are going down, hurt that enemy as hard as you can before you go. Carbineers are a known gimped PvP class and sometimes the best you can do is go down fighting.
Believe it or not, I am a Master Carbineer/Master CH, and I've killed more people than other people have killed me lately and I only wear a Stun layered composite helmet on RebelSpecForce Captaincolored Padded Armor and never use my pets in PvP. Some situations you just can't win, but that doesn't impy there aren't situations where you can't come out on top.
