According to your logic, there should be no weapons for smugglers, bounty hunters, rangers, squad leaders, etc, did i get that right? I encourage you to not try to think in small boxes.

To enlarge your horizon i give you the hint to, just as it's most obvious, take a look at the proton carbine. In the game it's a carbine, but if you take the G36 (weapon of the german army) and remove the ammo box, you will have a hard time to see a real difference to the proton carbine. Now, in game the thing is called a carbine, in real the weapon is an "assault rifle". [ Now we would have the problem, there is no "assault rifleman" profession in game... i guess the perfect solution in this case would be to not certify it to anybody? But that's just a small sidenote.]

To further show how hard the limits are, there is a "carbine" version of the mentioned G36 available. If you don't have lots of experience in identifying guns, the only difference you'll find to the G36 will be the modified sighting system. (And that's not for technical reasons, there's also a rifle variant with the reduced sighting, they are just declared for export and the high-tech sighting system is an optional upgrade there...)

Within SWG we have the three classes: pistol, carbine, rifle. These are very small boxes and they are necessary to keep the number of professions within acceptable limits. A profession for each weapon variant could be slightly excessive while at the same time limiting players even worse. Imagine they would be called "gunslinger", "assault gunner" and "support gunner", they would still have the very same functionality as they have now and also the very same certificates.

And as last words, i give you the challenge, find words to describe pistol shaped weapons without calling them pistols. If you managed that, give me names for carbines and rifles while not using any term wth carbine or rifle included. Then you have all the weapons for BHs, smugglers and other classes around of which you currently want to steal the weapons.

Wish you fun...

Personally I'd like them to add in a v2 schematic for the Grievance Striker (in the same way they have 1b Trandoshan Rifles), it's a nice weapon, I'd love to use it, just doesn't compare to a good crafted Carbine. Proton would be nice to have craftable, but I'd rather the CARBINE community got a new high end weapon which would be different from the Elite or Mark2 rather than a Carbine/Other Class weapon.

mine does .....i OD a ton of carbineers on chilastra using mine. the trick is getting a good slice. mine is 1013 max, 2.5 speed (i have a +25 speed suit and im MMarks/MCarbs) 100 SAC (pups down to 70ish) and 60m range. i can hit all carbineers out of their range, and i have very similar damage output.

also, it gives me +10 carb def and +10 acc

I'm a SAC junkie sadly so unless I'm hunting junk mobs then SAC needs to be < 60 for me.

No, you got it totally wrong. At least read what I said before going off on your merry way. I clearly stated that I thought the certs for Smuggler, SL etc should remain where they are. My point is that a master carbineer should have access to the SL carbine for example, as well as the SL. Having thought that through that would weaken the appeal of the SL profession but I doubt people take SL just to get the use of a carbine, they do it to add all the ranged speed/accuracy and defences to an existing mastery like carbineer.

meh, i solo krayts with the high dmg output even with teh high SAC , cuz im at like +30 acc and +25 speed so the SAC doesnt bother me, just use auto attack ranged shot when you get fairly low on SAC.

my favorite is that i can shoot from out of other carbineer's range

*thread hijack*

Was it max damage, one speed slice, one critical slice on the grievance? Might try it myself.

Actually, I kinda like my Proton, its SAC beats out my E11 Mk II, so for those times I'm short on food or want a change of pace, its actually not bad. Considering that my biggest problem as a Master Carbineer is that I draw ungodly aggro from the fastest damage outlay of anyone in my guild (including Master Riflemen with Necrosis loot guns), using a lighter cannon in group hunts works to my advantage.
