Master Carbineer has a lot of built in offense, so looking for a profession that gives even more offense is a bit silly. What you do need is defense and healing, though going jedi isn't necessary. I was thinking of that...But with the jedi skills you wont be able to use armor. And Wile master defender does offer tons of defence...Thats a lot of skillpoints just for defence...Got 6 branches in the village that are not worth the skill points at all for any of the branches. Then the grinding defender with only a training sabor ugh... Wile you can heal you have a realy low base weapon speed. Getting + 25 ranged speed and carb speed would help but again with no armor you have to use clothing. Good luck getting all those attachments it will take about as long as mastering defender. Would be a lot of fun maby but for what you have to put into it....not to effective. On top of that you will be hunted by bh and holding a carbine wont let you run away to well. And the bh carbineer will have more def than you because a large part of the jedi's defence is the actual sabor block...wich you wont have.
I was a MDefender/Master Swords/4000 Healer before going carbines. When they removed KD from lunge I was without my only utility skill, which was very helpful when fighting BHs. Otherwise PvE was great with this template. So I decided I needed to be something else than swordsman which I wasn't too happy about. Been a swordsman for a year. I was looking at pikeman or a ranged profession like rifleman. I actually decided on carboneer since I got a KD and area attack, that area attack was huge. Though I could have gone pikeman and got the same type of specials. What sealed the deal on carbineer was that there would actually skill attachment for sale for ranged speed and accuracy. Melee speed and accuracy were just not out there, too many jedi. On top of thatI found a fair price on a +25 carbine speed. So I had all the attachments I needed for carbineer to get me up to speed, so to speek.
As for defense you have to keep in mind with master defender that is all of jedis defense right there. I also get all of carbineers defenses. The melee/range defenses do stack. So my base defense is in the lower 300s with a 50 defense boost when I equip my carbine. I get another 500 when I hit aura. So I am getting close to 900 in defense. On top of that I get the 7000 innate armor. Which means my wookiee can be a wookiee and not some wooden hut. Can't say I miss block and you need to hold an annoying glow stick with valor on for that to work anyways.
As to running away from a BH holding a carbine, all I can say is that it takes less time to kill a BH than it takes to run awayfrom one. I unequip my weapon all the time to just walk around. No force run here, which is fine, I don't to have sparkleys on my feet anyways.

Combat Medic. Or Doctor. I've also seen Carbineer/Rifleman templates be very effective. If you do a lot of group PvP, you might want to consider Carbineer/SL to help out your friends. The sky is the limit.

The reason why BH is so popular is that it gives you general ranged speed and accuracy mods useful for any weapon you use. Something like rifleman will give you more specials but not more firepower like BH would. With that said specials would be of interest. Something like smuggler with the daze and last ditch may be useful. An AoE weapon from commando with the carbineer KD or snarespecial would be rather powerful, specially in PvP. Any healer like CM is also a good choice. I would look at rather odd yet powerful combos that most people don't have or haven't heard of. It could make you very unique.
