Honestly, you can make better with a Krayted E11 or Elite. I know those won't be as popular as the Proton due to it being a quest weapon, but it's possible.

No you can't or if you can please provide proof.

I used +179 Krayt Tissue and couldn't beat the Proton, please refer to the STICKY post on Typical Carbine Stats for a huge list of Carbines.

I used my proton carbine in some PvP tonight and did pretty well.

I really like MCarbs/MBH/novice doc...novice doctor is nice having two heals along with stims.

The proton is particularily good because of the action cost. Those who say they have better elites/e11's, please check your SAC I bet it's over 100. If you made an elite/e11 experimented on SAC, I bet it'll come close to the proton's dmg range, but slower and w/o elemental damage.

Doh haven't seen this one, my post is kinda repeating this

That's the beauty of the CU: it allows the use of a variety of weapons which in the end are so close to each other in terms of effectiveness that stats don't really matter. Where one lacks in damage, compensates in speed or SAC etc. Honestly, after getting the proton, went hunting and it wasn't really anything different than the elite I used before.

I am thorn here, on one hand I would like the WS's to have a schem for the proton, on the other hand I actually have one beacuse it is a quest item......and I did not have to shell out millions of credits for one (that I do not have)

I withdraw my statement. I looked at my converted e11, and stats were almost as good. But then I remembered that it was converted. Haven't checked out the e11s post CU as I'm also an MBH. So I will bow out.

Actually I would love to hear more data on newly crafted weapons....because so far it is HORRIBLE and my #1 priority with the Devs....well Suppression Fire ranks up there pretty high too.

If your not a MBH you can get the Clone Trooper DC-15 carbine from the new Boba Fett quest. I don't have the stats on hand but its not far behind the Protonthough itlacks the elemental damage but it only requires character level 54 to use.Thats a worth while trade off if you want a new carb and can't use the Proton.

So far, I've only been on long enough to respec all my marksman stuff to get novice doc (damn they screwed my on the respec), check my own conversions, and do the quest for the proton. I did check my krayted laser against pre-cu converted lasers and was VERY angry at the results, but after getting a little bit better understanding of the game, I see that it's not so bad (70 point difference between max). Still not near my best gun tho.

My featherweight made a HELLA convert, doing just under 1k max, and 460 dps. I gave it to a pistoleer friend tho.

If what I'm hearing about post-cu constructed weaponry is correct, they really screwed the pooch. But then again, they had combatants in mind when they made the upgrade, not crafters (apparently).

Will try to get info to you as I get it.

The only problem with the DC-15 carbine is the extremely poor range. I believe it's 35m, making it slightly more useful than a high powered pistol. I love carbines, but when I did the quest, I got the rifle... If it's going to be a wall decoration, may as well go all the way.

Yep the 35m max is depressing but if you really wanted to use one of the new carbines added in with ROTW it's an option. ^_^
