I just finished building a couple of Krayt Carbines and I must agree with the posters in the thread.
1) Laser Carbines are excellent PvE weapons, in PvP against an opponent with Ranged Mitigation, better use either a DXR6 or an Elite.
2) Try and get your weaponsmith to make the carbine you use with a Stock. The Stocks I made (using run of the mill components) were 32 min/max while adding 0.366 speed and 20 to each HAM. Yes, the extra ham cost is hard, but who fights withough buffs these days ?
3) A DH17 Snubnose is a good weapon. It's low speed make wonders in PvP or PvE. Granted, in PvP the damage will be reduced (no AP) but if you can get a good WS to make you one, go for it. (my own DH17 is +/- 400 damage)

I have a 228-468 35% damage sliced Elite Carbine, spd is 3.8 but I have +115 spd so it doesnt matter. Best hit in PvP against an unarmored opponent was 1116 with Crit shot.
