Thread: Uber Carbineer template
Right now, MMarks/MCarb/Pistol0304/Medic4440/CM1000 It's working alright. CL is 67, I'm in a transition again where I just recently dropped everything out of Doctor except for Novice for the time being until I work up the XP to get CM back in. Seeing some of the other templates, I was wondering about a little modification to mine. Recently the PvP on our server's Corellia has went through the roof, and we're often going from defensive to offensive in minutes. What do you guys think about dropping Master Marksman and the Rifle line? How much into Pistol and CM will I be able to go, and will I still be abel to stand up to PvE NPCs on the bases?
I have had MCarb/MRifle/MMark and I was still getting worked over by ranged and melee.

Yeah that temp is prtty damned good.
Atm i've only ground as far as MBH/carbs xxx4/cm 1xxx making me cl62 and i am taking down cl65 npc's in under 15 seconds easily, only time i have troubel atm is if they're elites and even then i can still take down 65's 90% of the time, so i am guessing as i grind up i can only get better
i highly recomend this template.
I am this too. I have also had M. Mark/M. Carb/M. Pist w healing and was ok. I have also done M. BH/M. Pist/0400 Carb and well as 0040 carb on that and all was well. I think the M. BH/M. Carb/0004 was a lot better if you option for healing because of stopping shot + high damage output. I like the build quoted above as that is my current/and final build I settled on.
Dudes! He didn't say "i want to go into duelling business", he mentioned basebusting. All the templates you mentioned are welcome in mindless blasting each other but from a basebusters point of view, they are just the goons to take along to keep the enemy busy.
If you want to get into basebusting, get yourself at least one profession wich is wanted on a slicers team. MBH doesn't count as you get BHs cheaper in the dozen, there's a BH at any corner who's ready to help you basebusting for a sandwich and a coke. (Most even for less.)
Anyways, if you have BH and want some healing, anyways, i would advise to grab some novice BE. Sure, that's 34 skillpoints which won't help you for anything, else, but most basebusters will cry for you. The other thing which goes along well with carbineer is (i have to say it, i play it) the Squad Leader. This of course would cost you the BH, but SLit's not as bad as people make it out to be, just most people don't understand it. And whent he revamp hits, it'll probably even be massively overpowered.
Those two professions sure get you into basebusting, and the +15% of damage of the SL quite often is something our enemy is not ready to handle. Of course, you are not up to the level of the serious 1-on-1 powerbuilds, but you still can pack some surprising punch and especially give your team (if it's halfway organized) supreme striking power.
Grab a shirt with a nice bonus on Healing Efficiency and drop your remaining skillpoints into healing efficiency, too, and while not being the mightiest of all healers, you're also not worthless in this role.
Also, if you neither take BH nor SL, the commando always is a wanted profession. Giving your attacks some area effect is pretty nice in PvP, despite the currently broken commando damage. (Area knockdown and _effective_ area snare are very nice.)
What you really want to take is up to you, but if you want to go basebusting, these are my thoughts to the matter. If you just want to be additional firepower for the group, the above given builds are great, if you want to have an actual role in basebusting, take my points into consideration.

Yes.
I'm tired of all the dueling temps, all that's good for is bragging rights. If you wanna actually do some good there's lots of other temps to try, like Sylow mentioned. With my new character I'm shooting forMpistol/MSL/ Novice BE/ mild healing(subject to change at any time). I've already got a good dueling/soloing character, but he's just another face in the crowd when it comes to group combat. I expect Brigham to be much more fun, much more of the time. He already is starting to be, and only at lvl 51.

Sorry, but MCARBS/MBH/CM4000, yes it is very effective in 1v1 PvP(I won 3rd place with this in the annual Fight Night, Bria has), but it is also effective in Base Wars(whatever you wanna call it), because of the healing, in my group of 8 if someone calls out on TS for a heal, I throw one and thats an Instant 1700 Heal, same thing with Spray I tell people to come to me for healing, and I'll get them fixed up, my sprays hit for I think 1300-1450, and this rocks for Base Wars as well as dueling/1v1 PvP. It is meant to help the group and be a very effective 1v1 template.

I never claimed that this combo is not effective... but it makes him no more than one of the numerous thugs i call in after assembling the core team. For the core team i only pick persons who have proven to be reliable and/or have a profession which i am currently missing for the basebustung. (Interestingly enough, about anybody who has some basebusting in his build pretty soon acquires some veteran knowledge.)
Thus, if you want to make a name for yourself in team operations, you either have to offer something to the group (except some healing and firepower, as those can be found at every second guy and his shadowon the corner) or have to be lucky to end up in the group of the organizers so they can observe you doing well. If you are known as being disciplined and doing well, the given build is great, but for making a reputation and getting into things it's not really helpful... and even if you manage to have a good reputation, you are easily replaceable.

You know what I think would beat this temp in a duel though, and would be helpful for base busting...
MCarbine / MCM / 0400 SL
Reason: Carbines are an awesome stand-alone weapon prof. MCM for heals, saps, and paralysis. Squad Leader for +15% damage with volley fire and something like another 30 or 40 to melee and ranged defense. With a double capped carbine I'll bet you can out dps anyone with volleyfire on. The only weakness is you'll have to rely on Legshot/Rapid fire as your high damage combo. This is what I do right now, and it's not that big of a deal, volleyfire should make up for it.
