I donno, I think my motto is "Zar'doz master of the useless progressions."

I'm a master ranger, and carbineer and it goads me that the points we need to invest to allow us to stack with the other range classes.
I won't go into ranger issues. But it would be nice to be actually needed as a carbineer.

Maybe if they do the revamp, they could balance it in a way like this:
Not including lightsaber and stun there are 8 damage types. You give everyone energy since it's a Star Wars staple and maybe kinetic since it's old technology, then you give each class 2 of the remaining damage types. Stun is a tuff one to do, they showed in Star Wars a carbine can be set to stun, question is who would get it or more importantly how would it be implemented.

This is just a though. But this is in the wrong thread for that.

Getting killed in less than a minute by a guy in fur underwear: Priceless

There are alot of things carbines cant kill, for everything else theres Swordsman.

A Ranged Defense Stacker such as my template or even Addy should have little trouble standing up to you.....the only problem I run into against BH's is depending on the equipment it will be a draw.

A BH/Carbineer is sweet for sure, but if somebody can afford and gather the SEA's to eliminate the need for BH, well then Fencer/Pistoleer/TKA Defense Stacking is King for Carbineer.

I'm just now grinding carbines was wondering what kind of crabine you are using to get through 80+ resist comp armor. I'm assuming you are using a DX6 but just curious.

All our weapons are affected in the same way against composite since we only have energy/acid/heat. The only difference are the Armor Piercing vs. Armor Rating bonuses/reductions. Our most effective weapons in PvP are laser carbine against melees (AP2, high damage) and DXR6 against rangeds (goes through psgs, slight min - max dmg range) and perhaps the enhanced E11 (fast)but i personally didn't use it often.

Anyway, i'm sure you'll find this information and a lot more in the FAQ...

Sorry for the off topic.

Here is a quick look at the numbers vs. a 24% Engery 44% Base Imperial PSG, 80% Base 40% Stun Layered Composite doing 100 damage from some various weapons:

Stun Baton (AP0 Stun)
1st the Armour Rating Light of the PSG kicks the damage down 50% to 50 damage.
2nd the PSG nullifies 44% of the 50 so we are down to 27 damage.
3rd the Stun Layer hits 40% of the 27 to 16.
Damage done: 16 of 100
Effective Resistance: 74%

DXR-6 Carbine (AP1 Acid) or Vibro Knuckler (AP1 Kinectic)
1st the PSG is completely ignored since Acid is in the vunl list, 100 damage gets through
2nd the AR1 of the Armour nullifies the AP1 of the weapon no damage reduction, 100 damage still.
3rd the 80% Acid Resistance on the armour kicks in and cuts the 100 damage down to 20
Damage Done: 20 of 100
Effective Resistance: 80%

Laser Carbine (AP2 Energy)
1st the AP2 vs AR1 gives a 25% damage increase giving us 125 damage.
2nd the PSG vs the energy damage reduces the 125 by 24% ending up with 96 getting through.
3rd the 80% resistance of the composite nerfs the 96 down to 19.
Damage Done: 19 of 100
Effective Resistance: 81%

Jawa Ion Rifle (AP1 Stun)
1st the PSG AR1 nullifies AP1 of the Jawa Ion letting 100 damage through.
2nd the PSG vs the stun damage reduces the 100 by 44% letting 66 damage in.
3rd the Stun Layer knocks off 40% of the 66 leaving us with 39 Damage
Damage Done: 39 of 100
Effective Resistance: 61%

DXR-6b Disruptor (AP2 Acid) or Power Hammer (AP2 Blast) or Long Vibro Axe (AP2 Kinectic)
1st the PSG is ignored completely ignored since acid is on the vunl list letting 100 damage in
2nd the AP2 of the weapon vs. the AR1 of the armour increases the damage by 25%, 125 damage
3rd the Composite reduces the 125 damage by 80% to 25
Damage Done: 25 of 100
Effective Resistance: 75%

This is a first draft of a document i am compiling for the FAQ to help people better understand damage types vs armour. And more importantly how our weapons compare to other weapons from other proffessions.

For example a DXR-6 has the same "effective resistance" as a Vibro Knuckler in PvP in this example. That is not to say they will do the same damage, but if 2 hits score the same damage, they will be reduced at the exact same rate.

I used the 100 damage as an abitarory number i chose to help illustrate the "effective resistance" of the common PvP armour setup. This post is not to meant to determine a most damaging weapon. For example if you can do twice as much damage with your DXR-6 as a fencer can with his stun baton, the DXR-6 will hurt more.

And last but not least armour is one of the many factors you need to consider when factoring damage. Other factors such as Damage Mitigation, Toughness and Food Like Synthsteak may also play a part in this determination.

The weapons i grouped together were based on these facts in case you were curious.
-Stun Composite has special protection again stun and electricity
-When Stun Composite is sliced all Energy, Acid, Heat, Cold, Blast, Kinectic are all increased equally
-A PSG has a special protection energy and vunlerability to Lightsaber, Acid, Kinectic and Blast
-A PSG has bases resists against Stun, Heat, Cold, Electricity

Good stuff....unfortunately I don't have any open slots in the FAQ and will have to link to this info....and no I am not going to start a new FAQ until the Combat Upgrade hits

The only major comment I have is that real in-game weapon numbers should be used, and Stettin's Shop List should have all you need....link is in the FAQ

One minor comment, throw in a T21 too.

Sounds good, i will throw up another version, use some "real" numbers. I was considering doing a T-21, but i just got lazy.
