Defense stacking currently far overshadows offense stacking. offense doesn't stack, really. defenses do. I could offense stack myself (BH carbines 4, master carbineer) and still not be able to touch a defense stacking template. While teh defense stacking doesn't need to be nerfed out of existence, it needs to be dropped to a level that makes it consistent with offense stacking.

Im getting tired of these super unhittable combat templates. There are few people i know that can beat me now and those characters are ones that i cant even touch. Most are clones of eachother here are the basic combinations that im getting tired of.
swordsman / fencer / rifleman / pistoleer / carbineer / teras kasi / and more
I know you cant fit them all but what ends up happening is this.........they get counterattack, dodge, block, uber melee defense so u cant hit them at all. Even with uber offense accuracy and speed.

Im with Arias, perhaps defenses should be applied based on a logorithmic equation other than the linear one that they are using now, just a thought. Should people be rewarded for spending 250 points on combat? Sure, but should they be able to annhilate multiple BHs without breaking a sweat? No.

the day they break defense mod stacking is the day I quit. how the HELL is s wookiee supposed to survive if he doesn't have superior defenses? I've played for 2 months building up a template oriented towards defense. I swear I'll make such a stink in the game it will rise up and the devs themselves will choke on it if they do this.
I have yet to see a single post from any dev that says defense stacking is getting nerfed. Just that combat is undergoing 'passes' to 'balance' it. No one that i've seen has ever said defense staking would be changed.

The Pistoleer Correspondant was able to get a DEV response on this issue around the time that everyone realized how good PROFESSION-SPECIFIC Defense Mod (i.e. Block, Dodge, Counterattack) stacking was.
They basically said that yes, there is an imbalance and they are looking into it. Now keep in mind that that statement only applies to the Defense Mods that are granted by certain professions. Those Mods are Block, Dodge, and Counterattack.
They said that Melee and Ranged Defense Mods are SUPPOSED to stack across professions because they are not profession specific.
Hell, even Master Dancer gives +7 Melee and Ranged Defense.

There has been no official comment from the developers on this issue so it is clearly still a rumor, people love to hawk it off in game and forums as fact, or perhaps even something thats already happened. But anyone that tries to shoot at a fencer pistoleer or a rifleman TK knows for a fact it has not yet been nerfed.

We had that looney Bounty Hunter complaining about this a while ago, I think a great many of the Bounty Hunters out there would freak if they lost their stacking with Pistoleer or Carbineer.

You know nothing. The only reason we have to get carbineer is because of defense stacking. We go carbineer to get extra accuracy mods to slice through people with good defenses. If the defense mods were not stackable our own specials would work and we would not need to dabble in carbineer.
I'd much rather have some medic abilities or ranger tracking for killing jedi than have to dabble in carbineer.

Interesting outlook but BH carbineers are pretty darn powerful.

Dodge/block/counterattack stacking is too much, imo. Ranged/melee D stacking, whatever that's fine.
