Thread: MBH with MC or rifles?

Im MBH/MC/NovSmug. Which currently allows me to do some uber croud control in mass pvpand with a good krayt carb w/ PUPs. I can kill krayt dragons, gorax, nightsisters, ect faster than most rifleman to top it off. Its a great blend of speed, damage, sac, specials, defense, and range. Flexablility is one of the most valuable tools out there and carbshas it.
Why novice smuggler? All it gives you is Concussion Shot, which isn't all that hot, especially against critters. If you're just looking for a way to stop a creature why not Pistoleer 0001 for Stopping Shot? That would leave you enough skill for some novice medic healing power.
Just my 2 cents.
Or is there some other reason for grabbing Nov Smuggler?

There is also the most damaging Carbineer shot.. The torso shot.. which causes bleeding... for like 15 hp per sec or something like that.
Just wanted to clarify on this - Torso Shot is NOT a Carbineer shot it is a BH special. Also, while it is pretty damaging, it isn't as powerful as Improved Leg Shot.

Rifles are getting a min range cap so.......... Master BH/Carb/0-4-0-4 Pistoleer is the only way to go.
Really? I hadn't heard that rifles are geting a min range cap...i thought this was still in discussion? /worried can i get a link or url?
Anyway, as to the MC/Mrifles debate: on the carbineer forums you're probably going to find that you'll get a fairly one-sided opinion (naturaly), but Being Rifleman/BH i'll outline that side and the carbineer side as best i can:
Rifles:
Great range. especially with the ranged arms. it's very nice to be able to sit back 80m in pvp and tag people.
snipershot+adv crit=great dmg. Once snipershot is off it's just another 1.5 sec before you let off adv crit, and if you've got a good rifle and get the critical hit, you've got a decent chance at 2-shotting someone if they're not already in battle and holding their finger over the heal button. Another combo i use is cyborg critical snipe. it's about as powerful as snipershot, only w/o the warmup so combine it right after sniper and you've got a great combo.
Great starting! If you want something that opens up battle with massive attacks, this is the profession for you.
Not-So-Great sustained...You CAN keep up sustained combat, but really you're the support and so you're not ment to be up close and personal.
Snipershot min range...it's 20m, no closer
?other min range? haven't heard anything about this but if it's true i'll be glad i have my trusty carb and pistol.
Playstyle. Simply put, it has to fit your playstyle. I like the MBH/MR temp because it allows me to hang back and pick off people ina very literal sense. I'm not the one that gets the DBs and i don't take on alot of people without support. when i get the chance i take advantage of cover and deal the additional damage. If you're someone who likes to hang around the edges of combat and deal damage to aid your teammates, than MBH/MR might be the profession for you. If you prefer to be more "into" combat then chances are you want carbs.
Carbines:
-AOE!. Ok so i wont' pretend to be a carbineer or know the specifics as a result. I will say that carb from my knowlege is THE AOE prof. PvP you can damage a bunch of targets all at once, sometimes incapping or killing targets in rapid succession.
-DMG. While the rifleman's specialty is hitting hard at the beginning or dealing damage from an unattackable position, the Carbineer has the damage attacks for medium range to close range dmg dealing, and a bit more sustained and "in your face" damage.
-States. Carbineer has some awesome crowd control effects. Crippling shot and charge shot in particular. Crippling shot is an extremely effective snare, and charge is handy, though with underhand shot it will be fairly useless (i would use underhand shot because it doesn't have the animation that forces you towards your enemy) supression fire's an added bonus, if you can't kd, root or snare your opponent for wahtever reason, at least this one'll get them on their knees for a bit. Pick up stopping shot in pistoleer or (i hear the soon to be nerfed?) concussion shot in smuggler gives you a root as well for maximum effect.

Master Carbineer
Pistoleer 0 0 0 4
Novice Brawler(your choice, I took it for some extra melee and ranged defense)
Given the above, I just found that Carbines worked better for me.
