As far as dabbling in CH....that is VERY EASY....I have >9K health >4K action level 22 pets with light armor and 57% kinetic resist. Now that is gotten at 0400 CH....and that is only slightly weaker than my level 37 11K health 9K action 60% kin resist pets.....

Something I feel I should point out. While the armor and HAM on the level 22 pets is similar to higher level pets, it was my experience as a creature handler that my higher level pets:

  • took less damage (they were hit less)

  • did more damage even with similar damage on screen (this was IMO related to the higher level pet hitting more)

  • landed specials FAR more reliably (I had a level 64 gurrek that would dizzy everything she touched and a level 48 that would dizzy nothing)

  • had states applied to them far less

Now my points is that there is more to pets thanarmor and HAM. There are hidden accuracy and defense modifiers that seem to be tied to level. Firehawk might disagree with me because he has been a CH for far longer than I was but I am eager to see his comments on this.

In addition,it *IS* very importantto note characters with high damage output can use lesser pets and probably do just as well players with bigger pets and average damage output. My carbineer has a probot with 3k HAM and 20% resists. The probotcan "tank" some really tough stuff but not becauseit is a good tank (in factit sucks) but because he distracts the targets for me so I can unload with fullautoarea2, chargeshot2 and burstshot2.

ooo...lunchtime

I have not been testing CH too much to confirm or deny your reports Nova. All my pets are uber BE pets that quite frankly in line with your last paragraph, I just use them to free me up for the kill. An Enraged Rancor lair with 6 ER's out takes me about 45 seconds to kill all of them....although 6 ER's on ANY single pet will wipe it out.....then the fun begins when the pet goes incap

I am dropping CH skills to pickup FS skills but won't be looking at dabbling in Carbineer for sure, even with my uber SEA's I can't afford to drop a single box and fight at the top of my game.

Why 0400? Better to go with 4000 and just change out the pets you don't need when you get better ones. Lets face it, as a Master BE, he can pretty muchpull a formula'd pet out on demand and tweak new ones almost atwill. On the CH side, the ability to make controlled use of Pet Specials can change the dynamic of a fight REAL quick. Especially pets with Intimidation or Strong Poisons/Diseases and Posture Down/KD attacks that are much more reliable than ChargeShot or SuppressionFire.

4000 CH??? Are you kidding me? All that does is help you TAME wild creatures, which there is no way even at Master that I use wild creatures.....

0400 CH gives you extra stored pets, so when one goes down you have 10 more to pull out

I understand that, I was looking less at the skill bonuses as I was the available pet commands. Special Attack 1 and Special Attack 2 make using customized BE pets more effective than praying for a random hit.

As for pet storage, once you find your combo, how many pets do you really need? As a Master BE, why would he not have enough Stim Ds in stock to handle any downtime issues? He's only using one at a time, so its not like he's being all that distracted by multiple assets.

I don't understand this at all. Get your pet trained by a MCH and what is the problem? I am really confused here.....

These days, good luck finding an MCH. I was referring to some level of self sufficiency when I offered my thought.

Not that a 0400 CH is going Krayt hunting, but having more than one pet is often very valuable. If anything the alternate is 0040 CH, not 4000 CH by any means.

Oh, don't use Stim D's, use pet buffs when you can and Pet Stims.......don't forget to give you pet Treats along with his Trick

I apologize, I meant Petstim Ds. Can heal just over 1000 points of damage per usein all three pools when crafted properly.

I'm going Master Carb, Master BE and CH 0004. Which gives me the possibility to pull a nice pair of CL 12 BE twins.

It also gives me a bunch of nice and highly useable commands to teach my pets. (Not that I couldn't find a MCH to do that for me, but I like to be independant)
