Thread: the BH/Carbineer Armor of choice is?
As mentioned above, the protective traits of the armour are the same with all battle armours. It doesn't matter if your AS makes RIS, padded, storm trooper or marauder... he will use the same cores and will come out with the same protective values.
Of course, all RIS armours you find have very good values, but this is not since RIS is better, but since it takes some special ressources to create. So, as the armour requires that already, armoursmiths will of course also pour in their best ressources and cores to make the very best RIS they can produce... and will demand money accordingly. Any other armour, if you are ready to pay the money, can be made with the very same protective values.
Of course, people with limited founds buy cheaper armour (where armoursmith use their lower quality ressources) and have lower protecion values... and would you find an AS to make you a cheap RIS (which won't happen) then it would probably also end up with only mediocre protective traits.
Maybe you should venture over to the WS boards and read the "Questions not to ask a weaponsmith" the principal is the same. The reason RIS is better is that AS will go out and look for the best enhancers, and cores to putinto it. With the huge resource list to make a set of armor, do you really think that a smith will acually have two seperate resource piles?
I do not only think so, i know so for some armoursmiths. Where do you think the lower quality grind armours for little price come from? You think the AS holds back experimentation points so he can sell cheaper? Fact is, i know some armoursmiths who basically have two "product lines", the one is quality armour, the other one grind armour. The first is made from all the best they have available. The second kind uses older ressources which they still have left and which is not in use any more in the highest quality armour for they managed to find something better.
Remember, just because you were able to get 200k of naboo bristley hide with OQ and SR both at 925, it doesn't mean that you have to throw away the old 150k of older naboo bristley hide with OQ and SR at 900... rather, you make a packet of armours out of those and sell at lower price... (And, if you pay half the price for a bit less protection, that's a good deal when using the armor for grinding... a few hundred points of protection don't matter vs. bols and you save a good deal of money...)

I can tell you as an AS I have quantities of named resources for say battle that run from over 3million units to just under 45k. Now I don't sell uncapped armor but I do have several varieties of capped cores all varied for condition... the better the resources you use the more condition you can end up within the final product... RIS and Faction get the highest condition cores.
as far as my preferences for the armor i make for myself... I love RIS always have. +350 health bonus quad primus AB sliced is my current choice ..I am still waiting for a couple of seas to put into a new set of RIS for jedi hunting.

Well RIS is of course the suit de jure. But a set of Padded and BH (new stuff) will get you by just fine.
If you have the cash flow, then for sure do the RIS
