I'd agree with that statement more if I was allowed to learn how to play a class and then still be able to play that way in 2 weeks. One of the biggest problems I have with the game, and hopefully it's improving, is that they make fairly drastic changes pretty regularly.

Of course every class has pros and cons. Where I start to get rankled is when the pros don't outweigh the cons, or the pros from one class vastly outweigh the pros from another. Carbineers have a niche, no doubt. They can't do big damage like a rifleman, and they can't shoot as fast as a pistoleer. I was hoping they were somewhere in between. With the proper application of kd/stacked bleeds and some judicious discretion (meaning you know when to haul ass and wait), I can kill more difficult things with my 2-3-1-1 carbineer than I can with my master TKA. Says something's wrong with TKA to me, but I honestly think TKA do good damage... the problem is more likely that the NPCs just do too much damage at close range, and the only viable way of killing them is through pets or kiting. Me, I see kiting as a borderline exploit, but it's the only way to survive combat at range with tough opponents.

Either way, thanks for the posts gang, they've given me a few tricks and ideas.

Well after all we got some problems here - I've started with a carbine and I still use carbines .
After getting some medical experience and acquiring master doctor - I'm pretty happy with my skills as a carbineer.
No matter which planet I pick - my little cat does a little tanking - I heal it while I knockdown and cripple the enemy.
It costs a little for the stims - but it works.

Furthermore once the secondary stats are raised by enhances - you don't loose much ham anymore

And in the end - I don't know how often I saved a friend by knocking down the target.
Carbineer is great - either you've to be buffed all time or you're a master doctor as secondary profession

Hopefully they will improve the carbine skills a bit more soon. Reducing and fixing HAM Costs, the elite carbine...
After all it's not that bad.
The one thing I don't like - no dev replies or comments.
