Ok, sorry i hit the enter key a bit too quick, im about half way up the tree and realizing that i suck compared to other classes, and always need doctor buffs to even have a chance. Ive been a carbineer since launch...I dont play to often so i havent quite mastered it yet. I was thinking of going up the dreaded pistoleer tree just because it seems so much better....Should i stick it out and wait for our various fixes or just join the dark side

I have not seriously considered droping carbineer and picking up riflemen; however if I find the new patch nerfs us I will drop master carbineer, and pick up master doc/riflemen.

Pistoleer has some nice specials yes but as a former pistoleer i can tell you that no they do not all work. Body shot 3 has lower DPS than body 2 for anyone but a BH/Pistoleer, double tap is not very effective, Pistol melee defence 2 is broken (same reason as our chargeshot 2 even though its not a ranged kd the devs i think belive that any area KD is too much and they might be right *shrug*) neither of the master specials work (yes they do have some though :smileymad and of corse disarming shot doent do anything either. So the only working pistol specials are Pistol Melee defence 1, Fan shot(rocks), Stopingshot (great damge but very slow if you arnt a BH), the bleader2 and point blank area2. None of these have any status effects to them.

So yes for solo unplaned action (get jumped on the way to a harvester while reading these forums) pistols are better but if you plan alittle carbine blow pistols away IMHO

I've always figured riflemen have it about asrough as carbineers. I did not progress up the profession too much, but wow - my mind was sucked away with a quickness. Since mind is still the determining factor in PvP and PvE to a great extent I think its going to be rough once the patch drops. Crikey. And if they are wearing armor? BHs won't need to spam eyeshot, 'cus itwill only take one.

It seems like the same sort of balance that exists now will exist then between the combat professions. What it does change (next patch) is the usefulness of medics / medic skills.

Do as you see fit. I am trying to hold out until carbineer changes come in. I know, I know. Snowballs. Hell. All of that.

What are your other professions? That could alter your effectiveness as well.

I just too up pistoleer all the way up to novice this week, just incase this patch gets messy. Master Carbineer Is all ive been anyways. But I noticed pistoleer doesnt have as many specials as we do, but I think thay all WORK!. Also I heard the new sound of a Republic Blaster last nite. Just the sound of it made me want.

Heya,

Whether you stick with carbineer or move on to something else, its an incredibly personal decision.

What makes the game fun for you will be very different than someone else.

So consider everything carefully, and make your decision.

Now I agree that it appears that for ranged classes they will retain their relative power to each other.

The major difference I see is the stuff you add to it.

Carbineers add Medic quite a bit, and the HAM changes dramatically affect how Medic supports Carbineer.

Other ranged classes seem to be able to get away without Medic, most carbineers it appears feel medic is required, if not doctor.

I do not relish remaking my character into something else.

I wanted to play a carbineer.

IfI can't have fun doing it then its prolly time to look a little more closely at the other250 games coming out this holiday season.

Well it looks like this has turned into a debate on what is the best elite ranged class stand alone? If so at MASTER <------ not that word it is very importain rifleman is the way to go. It is cleary better than carbine or pistol stand alone. I have never had a problem with this as pistol has 2 other class to add on to its abilities and carbine has 1.

But rifle has great acc and speed. Its DPS at master is huge. They have the best area attack in the game. They can target mind at 65 meters. Its only downside is that the mind ham costs are high but that is very easy to fix with food, spice, and musician buffs. Now granted it is only recently come into its own, and where in the past I might have thought oh a master rifleman now I am like %$*& a master rifleman

Now its real weakness for those that want to make rifle be huge is that unlike pistol and carbine it doesnt have another class to stack with that adds to it rifle skills. I have worked with both pistolier combos and they are huge. Now granted as there prenerf guns get worn out( in like 2 years sense everyone and there mother stocked up) they wont be so threatening but nothing to scoff at thats for sure. The smuggler/pistolier is a great combo as it can turn off your attacks for a bit and then smack you with high damage specials. The bounty hunter/pistolier is one the most hated combos in game for the eye shot spam even though they will just switch to stopping shot at the speed cap on there prenerf guns if eyeshot ever gets nerfed. In fact in large groups they tend to use it now. And well this is the carbineer forum we know what Bounty hunter carbine does for us. ( crippleshot at the speed cap on laser carbines is nothing to scoff at)

So if you want a great stand alone elite stock up on combat xp then go rifleman. I know I stay with carbine mainly cause I like the style of carbine and for me it is a solid gun form marksman to master. Its probally mainly a style thing though.

Let me just throw this out there.

I dueled a guildmate on day, Me being a Master Carbineer, and him having "SOME" pistoleer.

So we start to duke it out and it went round and round. I finally hit him with a Head Cripple Shot which did him in but dang he gave a friggin run for my money, AND I was buffed.

here is my new evaluation of carbineer: Master Carbineer=KICKASS Non-Master Carbineer=**edit**

so once you make master, it's well worth it. but until then, this class blows. your decision tho

If like me you enjoy being killed by nunas, kreetles, lesser desert womp rats and jabba's swoopers while decked out in composite armour with a damage sliced laser carbine but no buffs, by all means keep carbineer!!

Otherwise do yourself a favour and find something more enjoyable.
