Thread: I think what it is.... is that we are the ONLY profession that is working as intended.

If you consider what the devs have constantly said about the challenge level system and how hard it SHOULD be to take down certain creauters in this game... we seem to now be the only profession that actually fits into that gameplan.

I ran a few experimental missions today to see how I faired unbuffed, with decent (not great) composite armor, and no pets:

I sure as hell can not solo a Red Con now that chargeshot1 is nerfed - this has always been th edevs intention

If I get extremely luck I can hang with a Yellow (I think I killed 3 of 7)

I'm about 50-50 with white con's today

And the rest is pretty do-able.


This is exactly the way the system should work, and is exactly the way the Devs said it should work.

PROBLEM is we are the only ones it is working for.

you might want to master your class before you gripe about it. i mastered carbinier and soloed tons o' stuff. i gave it up and thought maybe i'd be challenged, not so. its all downhill from carbinier.

I'm one box from master..... do u think that'll make a difference?

Will my weapons suddenly hit for more than 900 points of damage? Will I fire specials faster than once every 3 seconds? Will I hit more than once every 4 times? Will I no longer die from HAM costs?

Unlikely.

This is my 5th major fighting profession and it is far and away the ONLY one I've encountered that is literally crippled. (admittedly I havent tried Pikeman yet) - so unless you that one last box does the trick, I'm afraid our experiences do not match up..... nor do the experiences of the other users I've been hearing from on these boards.

oh i could gladly say i'd enjoy it very much if every combat profession but bounty hunter and commando were brought to the same level . gotta have respect for the number of skillpoints people commit to do BH or commando, but the rest of us should be at this level, yes. i'm a more positive carbineer, but i agree with that assessment. i CAN still solo stuff that cons white for me. if i do it right, i can POTENTIALLY solo stuff that cons yellow. theres no way in hell i can solo almost anything that cons red anymore though. i've long thought that the con system needed to be fixed somehow, and it is now! woohoo!

to drag the other combat professions to this level though.....they'd kick and scream the whole way. TK especially. can you imagine the reaction they'd get if they made unarmed/TK how it should be? unarmed should be almost impossible to hit and have really good extra stuff like they already do like powerboost and that one that lets them get up from incap faster....but the amount of damage that they do should be nowhere NEAR as powerful per hit as the damage that a BLASTER BOLT does to you. if i'm able to get hit dead on with a blaster and only sustain about 50-100 points of damage per hit, then they should only do maybe 10 points of damage each time, because i've obviously got to be able to resist damage really well.

TK should be able to hit FAST and make it really hard for ranged to hit back, but each hit should do minimal damage that just builds up. as they are right now, they do everything i mentioned, yet do just as much or more damage than a rifleman .

I think you misunderstood. He's not griping. He's pointing out the distinct possibility that our combat class is actually a challenge, and that maybe that's the way its supposed to be. In addition, he points out the Charging Shot nerf that just took place, and how it has affected the class. Since you gave it up, maybe you're not too familiar with how different the class can be now.


And I can't help but agree with him completely, as a Master Carbineer. I think the devs wanted to make it so that you couldn't spam special after special, which is kind of what our class is about. Now if they would just do something about the Doctor buffs being a little too potent...

even with the charge shot nerf I can still solo any creature in the game. It was easier with charge shot, but not needed.

charg shot getting nerfed is not my problem. Its that most of our shots (all but 2) are broke. We cannot be working as intended if none of our shots work. Them fixing charge shot and not even testing it....5 minuts in game would have pointed out the fact that charge 2 still does not work. And them doing nothing to all our other broken stuff is insulting and compleatly incompitent of soe.

at master carbineer/master medic wearing decent (50% all but stun) comp armor, i can plow through storm trooperspawnswith full auto area2 and wild2, they con white to master elite professions.

To the original poster: Which reds/yellows/etc did you specifically have a hard time against, and what weapons were you using? I can easily make a truthful post from the perspective of any class about what a hard time I had beating even cons, as long as I left out important details about how I managed to sabotage myself.


As a TK, I get my butt kicked badly by even con voritors, for example. Poison + high kinetic resist means death if I'm not buffed and/or lack some medic skills. Are you an image designer/carbineer or a carbineer/fencer? It can make a pretty big difference, just as buffs and equipment can.

Charge Shot did not get nerfed. It was a bug that got fixed.


Or did you think that having them graphically fall when it gives you the message "Your attack has failed to knock down the target" was supposed to happen?

I am a master carbineer (now) and master CH. I did not use pets so that I could test the combat effectiveness of the CARBINEER class. Thats why I posted the thread in this forum. I thought that would be abundantly clear to all involved. You may have found some uber profession mix that subverts my findings, but then if you are mixing and matching with a profession that ISN'T in line with the con system you are outside the bounds of my original point arent you? Re-read the title. I am talking about carbineers.... not carbineers/fencers.

The Red Con I tried were Rancors. Since then I've also been bullied by Tusken captains and Warlords. Being unable to keep them down and at a distance, they were quickly upon me and my high quality Laser Carb (base stats among the best on server - unenhanced) and Nym's Slugthrower simply can not dish out more damage than I am receiving. My crip shots on rancors averaged around 1100k (as high as 1600 as low as 400) and I get them off every 2 sec missing at variable rates. Throw in a wildshot/chargeshot to try to stun, KD. Doesnt matter, at some point, even with kiting, that thing is on me and is doing more damage than I can fend off.

And this says nothing to the fact that generally Rancors do not hang out by themselves, nor do sandpeople.

Fact is, the Rancor is a Red Con and if you have read anything from the devs regarding this con system, that is EXACTLY the way its supposed to be. We seem to be in-line with the Con System.

Its possible that a Carbineer/Fencer is NOT in line with the con-system... that was never my point.
